Re: Why a Forum?

Sure, it would be great to have this forum if the dev engaged with it, or we even had any evidence that he was looking at it. But so far...crickets...it seems to be a conversation amongst ourselves, so rather pointless.

Re: Why a Forum?

Yeah, totally understandable, but maybe wait to put up a forum until you have something to say? Otherwise, not much point in a public forum, keep it a closed beta?

Re: How different from Quadriga?

OK, thanks for the feedback. I liked Quadriga a lot, but it suffered from two significant problems arising from game design, rather than graphics or technical issues: 1) finishing no-hope races becomes kind of tedious, but you can't auto-finish, because if you do the game cheated by making your main...

Why a Forum?

Question for Slitherine: why do you bother putting up a forum for this game if there is no intent by you or the developer to, you know, respond in any way to posts here? Many developers/publishers utilize their forums to get people excited abou the game, post new info and screenshots, interact with ...

How different from Quadriga?

I played Quadriga quite a bit when it came out, enjoyed it quite a bit, although it had a few faults. How will this game be different? Is this the Quadriga II that was mentioned long ago? Is Turnopia behind it? I see that there is some kind of 3D view, although it seems odd that the view is from beh...

Medieval Sword Fighting Techniques

I came across this article ("The lost medieval sword fighting tricks no one can decode") online and found it very interesting, so I thought I'd share it here:

Re: Will the appearance of late 1400s men-at-arms be updated?

Oh,mister,It's really sad to see such things.I think maybe the game should get back to the Pike&Shot and the Sengoku Jidai's styles if the budget does not permit to make a game with full 3D animated historical accurate unit models(This is the biggest flaw of the FoG 2). Personally I don't see t...

A couple of Scenario Design Questions...

I've been going through the Scenario Design docs here--super helpful, thanks much to Paul59 and RBS for their contributions. But a couple of basic questions: 1) when adding troops, the troop types are not restricted to any particular army list, but seem to include all units from all the armies, whic...

Re: Flanking Forces in Open Battles?

I don't play many XL battles, but I can see that the AI's flank march might get lost on such a big battlefield. One solution would be to choose an VLarge Force size, but then override the map width using the Advanced Options. Yes, I guess, although generally I like the XL maps--lots of space with n...

Re: Flanking Forces in Open Battles?

Maybe on smaller battlefields the flanking forces are relevant, but in my experience in XL battles, on XL battlefields (which is all that I play), they have NEVER been relevant, because the battle is over by the time they get close to the fighting. So all they do is weaken the main force...

Flanking Forces in Open Battles?

I've been playing a lot of custom battles with pot luck forces. All of the battles have been "Open Battle," which I understand to mean that all of the enemy forces should be on the battlefield at the start of the battle. And yet in about half the battles I've played, an enemy flanking forc...

The game is 100% better IMHO with your modded viewing angles and terrain graphics. Thanks again!

Re: Interesting matchups?

Don't forget, you also have the ability to play a Medieval era list against anything from Ancients (or vice versa) if you want to test/try something really funky. May not be for everyone but it does add a s***load of play value and experimentation to Medieval. How do you do that? I doubt I'd do it ...

Re: Weird pursuit bug

Yeah, sounds like a similar issue, although I never noticed it in FOG2. I've been playing SP lately so if it happens again I'll get a screenie and a save game file.

Re: Interesting matchups?

Just curious - which Scots list, what army were you using, level of difficulty, and map terrain type? Honestly I don't remember; so far I've been playing exclusively Pot Luck for all games to get a feel for the various armies, so I didn't really "pick" the armies or the terrain. But IIRC ...

Re: Interesting matchups?

Look further east - if you are not averse to elephants and hordes of archers, try the Indian Hindu lists. Medium impact foot swarm like the ancient Samnites? Try the Dailami. Looking at Europe, the medium offensive spear swarm of the Free Cantons can be quite entertaining - hmm, Free Canton 1108 AD...

Re: Interesting matchups?

Poles, Russians, Baltic Tribes, Irish, Scots, Welsh are all in the base game with no DLCs and play differently from Latin forces Thanks, will take a look at these. I actually got both DLCs as part of a bundle with my anniversary coupon. I recently played against the Scots, who had an army composed ...

Interesting matchups?

I recently bought FOG-M and have played about half a dozen games so far., all on potluck just to see what's out there. So far most of the games have been OK, but the armies seem pretty similar--some knights, some defensive spearmen, and some crossbowmen. (then of course there are the horse armies, w...

Weird pursuit bug

I had a weird pursuit bug in a game I just finished: one of my knights was pursuing some broken unit, and after it had pursued for two or three turns, both units just stopped in place for another three turns or so, without my knight being released from pursuit. Have never seen this before; while I'v...
