Re: V2 Army Lists

Portuguese Army List /pag 148 of Emperor and Eagles/ should be revised to cover Soult Invasion of the north. There the Portuguese did fight the French alone in various combats. And Keep Going!

Re: Interception charge contacting non-charging enemy

Thanks. Yes. Even moving less than 2MU the longbowmen did still intercept the charge path.

Interception charge contacting non-charging enemy

We have a confusing case in our last HYG game. A unit of French voulgiers charges an English billmen BG . A BG of English longbowmen is in position (at 45º) to intercept, placing itself before the bill men (it pass its CMT). But by moving 2MU, they will contact a French non-charging crossbowmen unit...

Artillery and FF.

Two questions about artillery and FF Can heavy artillery defending FF wheel ? In page 129 it says that “the front edge of FF is treated as the front edge of a battle group defending them including for measuring shooting ranges” so artillery that is in contact with two FF bases (front and side) can f...

Re: FOGN VARIANT FOR SYW

We have tried both FOGN and FOGR for the period. And both work well. FOGR has the advantage that there is no need for any rule change. But For the SYW I prefer FOGN even if some adaptations are necessary. It depends of your opinion about XVIII’s linear tactics, if you think that, as often said, the ...

Re: FOGN VARIANT FOR SYW

We had been playing SYW with FOGN with good success for some time now. I have already posted an After action Repot about the battle of Hastenbeck. This summer we play Rossbach, a very interested game. The Prussians were nearly defeated! We make a minimum changes to the Rules and the game works well....

Re: Results of Firing: 3

I forgot to check the QRS! Anyway that’s how we have been playing so no problem. But I must say that I’m not very happy with the 3 result, in the case of artillery for example. Well thanks for the clarification, even if the French commander will not agree!

Results of Firing: 3

Hello all! A point arouse in our last game, about the exact meaning of the 3 result. It seems to imply a difference between wavering units and disordered ones. Does it mean that only wavering units move back to 3MU? (i.e and instead of or). Thanks in advance.

Re: Bursting trough and irregular skirmishes and buildings.

The Lobosch hill was initially defended by about 2000 Croats. The Prussians send against them three regular regiments and the second battalion of Blanckensee regiment. The Croats had to be reinforced by 2000 Austrian regulars, including six companies of grenadiers. The Prussians move four more batta...

800pts Albuera

After some changes of mind and a lot of delays, we finally settled for the 1810/11 period for our initial peninsular armies. Using the battle of Albuera as a model, we developed two 800pts started armies: Allies Army commander Beresfort Competent. 1st Division. Stewart: Competent. British Light brig...

Re: Bursting trough and irregular skirmishes and buildings.

Interesting. But in this case as we were playing a SYW battle and the buildings were held by a Prussian free-battalion (average, drilled, skirmishes) so unless the Austrian commander could be convinced that Skirmishes in buildings are not longer skirmishes, the grenzers could assault them. I agree t...

Re: Bursting trough and irregular skirmishes and buildings.

That reminds me of an episode of “bursting though friends” at the battle of Leuthen between The Austrians and their Württemberg allies. “The men of the battalion of Erzherzog Carl saw blue-coated Infantry swarming towards them and under the impression that they were Prussians… they made ready to rec...

Re: Bursting trough and irregular skirmishes and buildings.

Thanks . In fact we have always played this way, but in our last game found confusing the reference about fulfilling the requirements for Interpenetrations on page 40.

In the end the Grenzers solved the problem assaulting the buildings!

Bursting trough and irregular skirmishes and buildings.

Two points arouse in our last game. Bursting though friends: If a broken retiring unit must pass trough friends of a different division a CMT is necessary, correct? Who takes the CMT? And, Is a CP point necessary? Irregular Skirmishes and buildings. Firing at buildings at Medium range you hit with 6...

Re: Goblins and Elves

Thanks. The idea behind the goblin army is that against elves you need numbers! As in any case they will be always better than you. In fact goblins do better than orcs! As least, with goblins you had not only many big units but also enough points to buy giants, trolls, chariots etc. And if you succe...

Re: Goblins and Elves

Thanks. We use camelry as a general concept for troops that have special abilities, in the case of the treemen the capacity to move freely in Woods, the same for the goblin spiders. The Dragon and the hawks have camelry capacity because they can fly, ignoring most of terrain limitations. About the r...

Well here is our first (big) fantasy battle of Goblins versus Elves. The armies: Elves: Inspired commander 2 troop commanders 1 unit of light foot: 6b of protected, superior, longbow, swordsmen. 4 units of 6b, MF. Longbow, Swordsmen, superior, protected, drilled. 2 units of 6b, MF, Armoured, superio...

I must confess that up to now, not change had give us very good results, so again I encourage ( or beg!) the authors to give the issue some attention
