The Jews, with their great mass of skirmishers, moved forward. Som...

Division A SnuggleBunnies (Jewish Revolt 66-135) draws with harveylh (Roman 197-284) 5-5 The Rebels feared to come down from a hill topped with some rough ground to face Legionaries and cavalry in the open. The Romans feared to advance up said hill. After half a day ineffectually pelting each other ...

Re: 2019 Team event - bringing it to a close

I enjoyed both the Sengoku and Mandate tournies. If we wanted a more 'scientific' tourney we could have each team play one army for one round, and then switch for round two (say, team 1 plays Joseon, team 2 plays Japanese for round 1, then switch); or, we could just do Sengoku Red vs Blue (Aoi vs Ak...

Chased off units do indeed count as half of the usual % value. They have a 5% chance to return each turn. If they return, that % is returned.

Also no; the only change I can think of, which was made some time ago, was to make cavalry armor more effective vs missiles.

Re: Moving through a ZOC

So this just happened in a League game. The highlighted Superior Warband just waltzed right past the Veteran African Spearmen to their front. I do still feel this is a problem. ZoC Screen.PNG Had I remembered to only turn the Warband to their rear 45 degrees, they would have been stuck with the choi...

Re: Pike and Shot Formations vs Later Tercio

1) Not necessarily in a 1 on 1 fight. Only the first 500 men are considered available to fight; so as the firefight goes on and both sides take casualties, the Pike and Shot unit will weaken in firepower, but the Later Tercio will remain the same. However, if you're talking two battle lines, the Pik...

Re: LH cannot charge

I like that idea, I think more than my own idea which was to force an additional cohesion test on the light unit that can't Fall Back - the tactic would still be possible, but riskier. I think RBS explained at some point that there are no cohesion checks for blocked push-backs because in some warga...

Division A

SnuggleBunnies (Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202BC) defeats youngr (Italian Hill Tribes 490-275 BC with Latin Allies) 44-6

Italian Hill Tribes is a very tough army to work with indeed, so little of the credit goes to my maneuvering here I think.

Re: LH cannot charge

To be fair the whole trapping your light unit with a second light unit in order to pin the enemy with a flank charge is rather absurd and probably needs to go. Talk about a gamey tactic to frustrate newer players! Mind you, I'll use it in a tournament myself, gotta try to win and all that, but sever...

Re: Moving through a ZOC

Wouldn't my proposed idea create less "clever" use of rules? Let's say you have two opposing units facing each other, each in the other's primary ZoC. One player has a second unit in move range to his foe's rear. Under the current system, an experienced player will know that it is best to keep that ...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

I fall somewhere in the middle on this issue. It IS annoying when somebody just camps some ridiculous terrain, or runs away the whole time; I think that is pretty rare though. Much more common are standoffs where neither side wants to move into terrain that advantages their foe. Sometimes these end ...
