Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

Thanks for running this Gavin. The most enjoyable part for me was playing with cruel and unusual armies. Since you could attack anywhere, in any time period, I don't think that the campaign map contributed much. Tightening up the rules as you suggest would make the map relevant. A 4 round tournament...

I challenge Austria (KiwiWarlord) with Italian 1494 - 1530 in Round 3.
Kiwilordski's Austrian Imperial Army of 12000 (20%) defeats the invading Italian Army of 13228 (54%)
Win for KiwiWarlord
Another fun game. Thanks Brian.

Re: 2018 tournament ending thoughts about the next

This was my first time playing SJ and although I lost more games than I won, I had a great time. All in all the format was very good. Balancing the teams is always difficult and subjective. I was going to suggest a pyramid style tournament, but that wouldn't solve the balance proble.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

The Austrian army has Tudor allied longbowmen. This should be interesting.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

The battle for Switzerland is over. The initial crunch of the elite Swiss pike was impressive, I was up 32% to 0%. Then the wheels slowly came off; 2 of his routing pike blocks rallied and his gendarmes got into the rear of my pike blocks. He clawed it back to 40% to 40% and we stayed within 5% of ...

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

I guess that I still don't understand what is going on. I looked at the map a couple of days ago and I did not appear to own any territory, so I assumed that I could be assigned an unowned one because you previously said: "Yes, if you've lost your homeland you'll have the opportunity to chose it fir...

Re: SJ Tournament 2018 - Round 3 Seikigahara

I have not heard from LFDLM as yet, how are the other Round 3 games going ? Just wondering if we should give my game with LFDLM away as it will hold things up, if it ever gets started that is ? I have been playing it as a skirmish game for practise, well it is a really good competition game with th...

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

I find it difficult to follow what is going on. I've lost a bunch of battles and I may well be knocked out of the campaign. I have no idea.

The colourful commentary is fun, but it is not a substitute for knowing where everyone stands.

Re: War for Europe and the Near East Campaign

Aryaman, we can continue our game now that the DoS attack is over. I lost a turn, so if you open and immediately end your turn we will be even. You were certainly winning, so if you would rather that I conceded I will.
