Re: Soft Cap

the soft cap is super silly because in 1944/45 the Russian horde charge at you with endless over strength units with 400+ experience. Duh. So, if you keep a bunch of PzIV, they'll get wiped out easily. i finished the grand campaign (east) on general setting, and it was a Pita, although i managed to ...

Re: Aircrafts

from this source, http://fw190.hobbyvista.com/earlyjg51190s.htm

it appears the FW190A-3 was the first to see combat on the eastern front around 10ish September 1942,, as the A-4s were received only in February 1943.

Re: USA East Coast - Help needed

You also need to keep game balancing in mind. If the TIger II is as fast as a Panzer IV, there's next to no reason not to go full Tiger II core instead of having some Panthers which were the real main battle tank of the German army at the time. its all about available prestige. Do you see a bad sid...

Re: USA East Coast - Help needed

the tiger 2 was as fast as Panzer IVs, i don't know why they made it move only 4 hexes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_II "Not withstanding its initial reliability problems, the Tiger II was remarkably agile for such a heavy vehicle. Contemporary German records and testing results indicate that...

Re: Elefant in Afrika

in theory i don't see why we could not use Elefants/Ferdinands in Afrika. one problem i could see is the weight, having to load and unload them from ships could have been a problem.

the Ferdinands came from the Tiger P chassis, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VK_4501_(P)

Re: Aircrafts

looking here, https://wiki.warthunder.com/index.php?title=Fw_190_A-4 i found out the FW190A-4 was the first version to see combat on the eastern front. the armament is MG FF/M x2 + MG 151/20 x2 + MG 17 x2, compared to the A-1 MG FF/M x2 + MG 17 x4. So the A-1 should have around AA 16 and the A-4/5 a...

Re: Aircrafts

Thx McGuba! Would you by any chances, have done the same with the Fw 190 and many other aircrafts? your explanations on the G variants make sense, what did you give for ammo, fuel, movement and ground defense ? Thinking about the 'E' why such low initiative -7- vs the 'F' with -11- ? Also i think we...

Re: Aircrafts

what initiative, Air Attack and air defense would you give to the air planes in your file? i looked quickly at the BF 109 series and the G-14 is missing with 5 500 units built. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_109_variants Also i don't understand russian, besides kak dela and a few wor...

Aircrafts

Ok, i don't really know much about aircrafts but i would like to know which one could be added to the pzequip file (modding) Starting with the Bf 109, we get the E,F,G,K version BUT like the G version i'm guessing by the release dates we have the G-2 (may 42) in game. The G-6 came out later around f...

Re: Advice for USA East Please

I don't know, it seems you know what you are doing. If you want to experiment, just do it. Build a larger air force or build a larger tank/arty combo, or no air force and a bunch of AA units etc.

Re: M4s & Shermans

My point about MG was more about them being used at suppressive fire against enemy, instead of accurate direct fire. MGs were supposed to put enemy to the ground, giving infantry space to maneuver. Of course, not all machine guns were used this way, US Infantry used them more like assault rifles (B...

Re: The Stug Family

They're cool looking 8) My favorite is the IIIG. Yes, the Stug IIIG tank killer was a giant leap from the little A's and B's with their marshmallow-firing peashooters..:) PS- we've got a bit of a mystery on our hands, namely the game's StuH 42 Artillery version has got an attack strength of 12 agai...

Re: 6-to-1 Sherman vs Tiger

use a bait behind a hill hex. For example, a useless tank unit you have, and put infantry close by. when the tiger move to the hill to kill your useless tank unit, take it out with infantry. (hill or forest or any hex bad for tanks)

Re: Upgrade chart Russian units

KV85 puzzles me. It was supposed to be a way to keep KV series competitive but isn't counted as KV series upgrade. Given it arrives at near enough the same time as IS1 which is better in most respects, it would make sense to keep the KV85 as a KV upgrade so you can have the more expensive but bette...

Re: KV1 serie

I think that the Panzer IVF2 and the IVG are, in practice, the early Panzer IV G and later Panzer IV G. It's interesting how the people who made the things don't always get to name them. According to Jentz (encyclopedia of German tanks of ww2) Ausf.G with additional armor (80mm total) became availa...

Re: KV1 serie

interesting. The Russians did not differentiate the T34 variants either. For them they were T34s built in different factories. So like you mentioned with the PzIVG, it's probably the same. For them they were KV1s. the Germans made a difference (A,B,C) in designation with new guns and more armor bolt...

Re: OT: just watched Dunkirk by Christopher Nolan

Went to see it last night, strange movie. not much talking, kind of repetitive too. Wait on the beach, get down when stukas are heard & wait again...can't say i really enjoyed or disliked it, but for sure i don't feel like watching it again, one time was enough. On the positive side, it gives an int...
