Re: 2020 team event call for players

Many thanks! But don't expect too much of me this time. I may have gotten rusty since then lol.

This has been 50/50 in my experience. Sometimes the game gives me rough hills with narrow passages of open terrain in between them, and other times the mountains let me deploy 5,000 horsemen abreast.

Re: My take on exporting battles

Only when I am outnumbered, although thanks to the mobility of an all-cavalry army I can stave off complete defeat by running down the turn timer and leaving most of my army intact. I don't think it's gamey at all to be able to take full tactical control of battles in FoG2 to heighten one's successe...

Re: My take on exporting battles

It is actually devastatingly substantial if you pull off very decisive victories in FoGII, like so:

Re: Why is your netcode so bad?

No, since his ISP provides a better service. My main gripe is not that I must retry for many times, but rather that it actually breaks sometimes and I'm forced to redo my turn altogether. When that happens, sometimes there's an error message saying something about "stream" not being allowe...

Why is your netcode so bad?

I live in a region with bad internet and often have to attempt several times to upload a turn before success. Around 70% of the time it works, but in the unlucky 30% I find myself forced to redo the turn altogether. But why would it break in the first place? How hard is it to send turn data from one...

Hey guys, sorry but I've been really busy. I don't think I will be able to play this last round. Snuggles, please take my place, and secure a glorious victory for our clan.

@bjarmson

Why are you not happy? I for one am tired of storming the beaches of Normandy or planting the red flag at the Reichstag. OoB is the only strategy game where I can meaningfully play as the Axis powers.

Re: Sengoku Jidai tournament 2018 - Round Two

sillygoy's 19,894 Ikko Ikki (5%) defeat ahuyton's 11,316 Uesugi (44%) This round, ahuyton spent lots of points on cavalry and yumi samurai. This panicked me early on, making me dissolve my neat checkerboard for something that would better withstand getting pelted at range. Perhaps it was this initia...

sillygoy's 19,655 Ikko Ikki (35%) defeat GDod's 14,939 Uesugi (70%)

Very bloody and hard-fought match, with thousands of casualties on both sides. Overeager troops getting flank-charged abounded in this one. GG!

Re: Sengoku Jidai tournament 2018 - Round Two

sillygoy's 21,332 Ikko Ikki (9%) defeat w_michael's 15,424 Uesugi (48%) Mindgames were again insane in this match, owing to very interesting terrain given to us by the map generator. The focal point of the match was a patch of rough terrain in the middle of a deep stream cutting through the center o...

sillygoy's 20,291 Ikko Ikki (18%) defeat LFDLM's 12,319 Uesugi (49%).

Very intense match full of mindgames thanks to hills and forests that obscured vision. LFDLM was an honorable opponent as always. GG!

Re: Sengoku Jidai tournament 2018 format and teams

Very good game. I should add that w_michael ordered at least 6,000 Peasants to climb a hill with a difficult slope - practically a mountain - in order to outflank my right. It was a spectacle to watch. Ironically, I considered that hill to be my most important piece of right-side flank security, sin...

Re: Sengoku Jidai tournament 2018 format and teams

sillygoy's 13,930 Uesugi (13%) defeat GDod's 31,476 Ikko Ikki (44%).

Very straightforward battle, with GDod utilizing his numerical superiority to do some flanking maneuvers masked by forests. Thankfully, I had good flank security, and the ferocity of my samurai won me the day. Good game!

Re: Sengoku Jidai tournament 2018 format and teams

Thanks, bud! They are very useful indeed. I took your advice on army composition to heart. Unfortunately, I made some analysis and deployment mistakes in my match against w_michael and I have a feeling that the window for decisive victory has gone, and it's going to be super cutthroat slugging from ...
