Interface suggestion

Interface suggestion. Give player a setting option that locks the view so mouse events will NOT scroll the screen. I hit the stops left/right 100 times more often accidentally than intentionally for scroll purposes. And then there is the mouse move/click for the elevator selection. If mouse is still...

"Pace" is part of the game. It is part click fest, part strategy, and part organization.

Crash Message

Operation Anaconda Strike. The three CH-47 are inbound (not yet in landing queue) but I see them in the center display. I start to move my heli's on the pad to make room and get a crash. Here is the report: === Report === [ EXCEPTION: NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance o...

Suggestions, Questions, and a Comment

Nice game. Suggestions: 1. There needs to be a better way to show the ground threats. When there are multiple threats, they overlap and it's hard to figure out which is associated with which threat line. 2. Move the accelerate button further away from the ship interface; tends to get in the way of t...

Re: Strategy - First Five Turns

Well, just imagine how much easier it would have been with air strikes  Have you tried the game with the custom settings cranked up ? The following did me in: Typhoon Weather Elite Enemy Extreme Jungle H&M Start at 45 Random H&M 10000PP Start 355 Difficulty. I got up to about 48 and as low a...

Well, just imagine how much easier it would have been with air strikes  Have you tried the game with the custom settings cranked up ? No, I just play on the vanilla levels. And I"m not saying it's "easy" either. Lots of tactical decisions are required. Not to mention lots of surprises...thos...

Re: Strategy - First Five Turns

Totally agree on the airstrike thing, it just tips the balance the wrong way when you can airstrike every turn  Not so sure the air strike makes that much of a difference. I restarted as 2Lt. Here is end of game two, 2Lt. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc81/lostogre/game%202%20lt_zpsuzrh...

Strategy - First Five Turns

The following is some strategy on one way to consistently achieve victories. There are other strategies. In fact, part of the “game” is discovering the strategies. So if you're just starting, I'd advise not to read the strategy below. Give it a go yourself. But if you find yourself at a loss (figura...

Re: The Mecha mystery use

Most of my early game Cobra kills come from intel collected via village or ground combat. Cobra kills from ground combat / from intel collected via ground combat?? You mean after an NVA revealed after succeded in harming one of your unit? Revenge ?! Intel collected from SUCCESSFUL ground combat. Su...

Re: The Mecha mystery use

All about the balancing, I think the fact that infantry now detect whilst in an M113 made it more relevant, the two vehicles I personally think have not reached the end of their balancing journey are the Cobra and the armor... The Cobra is insane. Best bang for buck in the game. Not that I'...

Re: Distinguished service medal...

If you're focused on H&M and you know how to play, getting the CMH, the DSM, or POW medal will be very difficult. The problem with DSM is it requires a target rich environment. And a target rich environment requires low H&M. It's a bit ironic in a way because if you are good, you never get the big a...

An interesting series of events....

Nothing major, just something for the developers to know about: An ARVN entered a village to collect intel; an NVA unit was on the far side of the village, which was revealed the moment ARVN moved into village. This created the following sequence of events: 1. Announcement that my unit was being amb...

Tactic: Based Defense.

How it's done: Set up an ambush (claymore) while a unit is in a base.

Benefit: VC/NVA moving to attack the base will trip the claymore...and be engaged by the base defenders.

Re: Command and Staff College

If you're willing to spare a chopper, Once a GB performs training for a turn, you can airlift the GB to a spot and perform a recon. Next turn, you can lift the GB back to the base and continue the training. That's an exploit, but not so gamey as it costs a dear chopper duty. So, this should not be ...

Promotions

How are promotion points calculated?

Napalm update.
Veteran.
Game 1: DV. Promoted to CPT (straight past 1 Lt), although the end screen said 1 Lt.
Game 2: DV. Promoted to LTC (straight past MAJ), although the end screen said MAJ.

Can you get enough promotion points in one game to skip a rank?
