Re: LH cannot charge

Why does the Reduced CC free turn count as large turn when with CC it doesn't? It's especially weird since in the exact same situation a non-light cavalry can still charge after turning and moving. Are you saying a cav out of CC making the same move would be allowed to charge? Yeah, I just tested 4...

Re: medium spears cost the same as hoplites?

I still think the medium foot should suffer some minor POA penalty in the open against shock cavalry and maybe even heavy infantry. Also, it is worth mentioning that a forthcoming update will remove the Heavy Foot +1 CT Modifier from Heavy Foot that are of "Below Average" quality or worse. (Average ...

Re: Moving through a ZOC

I would much prefer a unit having to obey all ZoC rules. Of course, if a unit was caught in two separate primary ZoCs, it should be able to charge the unit to its front even if ZoCd from behind. I think it would still be good to have an option to squeeze out of the pinch with a high risk of cohesio...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

Nothing inherently wrong with hiding or staying in favorable part of the map as long as the map borders aren't being used as unnatural obstacles in my opinion. Then again, this kind of stuff is why I stick to the single-player :).

Re: Moving through a ZOC

That is indeed pretty weird. I would expect A to have similar movement options as C.

Re: Moving through a ZOC

Fall back style cohesion test when moving out of multi-ZOC-lock could be a nice addition. It would definitely add a cost to the otherwise consequence free movement in these specific situations and it seems realistic enough. At the same time it would be nice if the "ignorable" ZOC was chosen specific...

Re: ZOCs blocking break-offs.

The easier it is for cavalry to break off and leave combat the more frustrating it is for infantry based armies. Which would be historically correct! Infantry can't force a fight against unwilling cavalry, in most game modes cavalry has no real reason to offer battle for infantry, and it's already ...

Re: medium spears cost the same as hoplites?

Personally I consider medium foot to be superior to heavy. Heavy foot is slightly more stable than medium in the open and that's it. Medium is far superior in all other terrain and even in the open it has the same POA values as heavy. Medium spearmen army isn't really even supposed to beat a hoplite...

Re: Best Way to use Warband?

Loose warbands are great in any non-open terrain. If the map is not completely open that is the greatest strength of loose warband armies. When using very warband heavy armies I like to focus on one flank with most of my picked warbands, cavalry and generals concentrated there. The weaker units are ...

Re: A question and a clarification needed

So, just to be clear, I wouldn't have to worry about an impact cohesion test, if say, I had medium foot on an open tile being charged by heavy foot out of a rough terrain tile? I think that medium foot still has a penalty to cohesion tests because the fight is on open terrain. However the heavy foo...

Re: A question and a clarification needed

If enemy has losses anywhere between 40% and 60% and you have a lead of 25 percentage points at the end of enemy turn you will win.

Re: What do you hope to see added before Fog II ends?

From most to least important: East-Asia expansion - I really hope China, Japan and other East-Asian nations are added to the FoG2 as DLC. Standalone game wouldn't be bad either but it would feel like a waste to leave just one interesting corner of Eurasia out of FoG2 base game. Armour and penetratio...

Re: Campaign garrisons?

Garrison is only used to change the size of your army in historical campaigns and to allow removing units from your army to rebalance it. There's no strategic role for garrisoned units.

Re: What to do?

Historically battles like that were generally not fought. Neither side would offer battle that would give the other a massive advantage. Sometimes mutually agreeable battlefields were even agreed on by the adversaries to avoid endless impasses. What you have there is not a perfect position to break ...

Re: Future DLC?

Yeah it's definitely possible to do with the engine. I just personally don't think it's that interesting as there's virtually no tactical decisions involved. When tactical decisions come into play they are generally unrealistic as the units are too clearly defined and under perfect player control mo...

Re: Future DLC?

Sengoku Jidai has some siege scenarios. They are unique and interesting enough but not really something I can see being developed into standard aspect of FoG2. Strictly defined units, direct player control and turn based combat are not great for depicting siege battles. FoG2 is primarily a tactical ...

Re: Future DLC?

The couple latest expansions have taken longer to make than before but that's mainly because they have had much more content than the earlier DLC.

I would also guess that the usual graphics department is particularly busy with Panzer Corps 2.
