One thing I hate about games with tech trees is that once you have the tech to build a unit, you can build it forever. But that's not really how military organizations work--if you don't build a certain type of unit for a generation or two, you won't have the workshops to make the weapons, the cadr...

But the Seleucids did have Roman Argyraspids and countries like Pontus and Armenia had imitation legionaries; Also the Greeks switched from long spears to pikes after being beaten by pikes, there are numerous examples of such things and you can make it difficult to do the change like I said you know...

Well when I run a PBM campaign I usually make it a rule that you can change your army list only if you are defeated, to include the troop types of the army that defeated you. So if you have a pike army that gets defeated by a Roman army you can then start building Roman troops - and if you don't get...

Well you could make it that a general only gains after a dramatic victory involving say 1:2 or worse odds, or a loss from 2:1 or greater odds - or else give generals some sort of experience points that are gained or lost for each victory and they would have to reach a certain level of experience bef...

I'd like to see generals gaining or losing skill depending on how well they perform in battle, or if you send them to the academy for a while they might upgrade that way, so you aren't always stuck with a bad general (until he dies in battle or of old age, sickness etc).

Sounds like a typical Paradox game - poor documentation and lots of bugs on initial release, turn people who buy it into beta testers, they then release a DLC that you have to pay for, that is essentially full of bug fixes... anyone for HOI?

But........those elite cohorts cost almost twice as much as the 42 point Thracian infantry units. How was he not going after your flanks while your powerful units were tangling with his cheap units in good terrain? As I mentioned I first tried a game with me playing the Thracians and he was playing...

I love the imagery in this mod, (it's beautiful!) but disagree with some aspects of your Thracian lists. I played a Romans vs Thracians game against an experienced player who beat me when he was playing the Romans - when he was playing the Thracians he put them in hills and woods etc but it was all to no avail, the elite legionaries are so good that sort of terrain doesn't trouble them much and my Roma...

There should also be two Zealot units (one called JPF and one called PFOJ) that are never able to leave the capital as they are too busy fighting each other

That is a very good idea. BTW your Mercenaries and Allies mod is fantastic. Is it possible to combine it with the TT mod into a single mod? I don't think two mods can be active at the same time, if the TT mod creator would have to include it in the TT mod, or create a separate TT Mercenaries and Al...

Noooo, those independent or rebel armies are already too annoying, they can be so aggressive and you have to give up whatever you are trying to do to, to protect some unremarkable corner of your existing empire

Yes you can move slaves from one region to another - this requires the building of the slave building in several places (four is good) and meeting the requirements to carry out the slave redistribution decision. I got offered that decision several times but didn't try it as I don't know how it works...

You mean Balearic Slingers or Cretan Archers (haven't been able to recruit any archers in my game yet), not Cretan slingers. Building the archery building doesn't allow you to build archers, so how do you get archers if you don't have a special provincial unit?
