In my most recent game the Theosians have come, destroyed quite a few star systems and are now pounding three of my star systems every so often. IR Lasers are quite powerful, but certainly not OP. Once you encounter an enemy with active armor you'll know why.

I suggest that mineral depletion be a game mechanic that the player can set to "On" or "Off" during the game set-up as many people will disagree. That way everyone can play as they wish. How do you switch to other races' ships? When I start the designer like this I only get the Sharatar ships.

To repair ships move them to a planet which has an orbital shipyard. Your ships will be automatically repaired if the planet is not building anything.

Segment is a part of galaxy generated for one race. So, the number of segments is equal to number of races.

Not entirely sure here, but I've got the impression that mineral resources on planets are not endless. The amount you are mining seems to be slowly decreasing over time.
