Re: Best way to deal with scythed chariots?
Especially if used by the AI the are very meh. you can easily destroy them by frontally charging them with irregulars. yes theyll drop 1 level of cohesion very likely, but then the chariots will disperse.

Re: Having trouble winning
I agree with snuggle on the persians, i think they are very very strong and versatile, possibly one of the strongest and most versatile lists in the game as so far i didnt see anything that just evaporated them. And they even have camels! While i basically agree that mp is the way to go, i do think ...

Re: Cohesion test for missiles
then the following table says it is -1 at >16% . I had assumed that one test was triggered at 10% and another if cumulative casualties roes over 16%, but at -1. This is incorrect? typo in the manual? Thanks in advance for the help!/ Mark. Its not a second Test, its the same test result but modified...

Re: Too Many Double Breaks
So I guess you're just having horrendous RNG? Perhaps, but at this point it is increasingly difficult for me to believe that I'm just having a run of "bad luck". I started paying more attention to this issue about twenty MP games ago, and since then don't recall having a single battle whe...

Re: Too Many Double Breaks
I have not seen significant (I actually remember a single one) doubledrops in even or beneficial situations, and from my understanding the documentation of game mechanics enforces this to be WAD (even though my math is probably shitty as im not a statistician) Jishmael, I've gone back and re-read y...

Re: Too Many Double Breaks
if you are in the primary zoc of another unit you will not be able to charge something in front of you, unless you are also in that enemys primary zoc. the game uses an undocumented, but from my experience, pretty logical priority system here. Actually it is documented in the manual - section 12.12...

Re: Too Many Double Breaks
Well I can't see if an enemy unit is ZOC'd or not by my own troops (can only see enemy ZOC), and I often find that I have a unit with an enemy unit right in front of it and it can't charge it, I mean it's right next to it, it should be able to charge regardless. Also it seems I can't charge a unit ...

Re: Scythed Chariots - just a waste of points??
While I'm sure they can be used well if carefully kept in reserve, for most army lists I consider them too expensive and fragile and I pretty much never take them. They can be ruthelssly taken out if caught even by inferior units, all they need to do is last one turn an wham, no more scythed chario...

Re: Too Many Double Breaks
First off I think the overall balance here is pretty good, I have experienced some really bad strings of luck in the past (ive had to try the battle against the gauls in 7 hills of rome around 7 times (emperor progressive) until my line stopped imploding) But thats RNG for you and overall I dont not...

Re: Auto-evasion
If you wargame on the tabletop, this is one of the first places I go to see how well they are written. So always comes down to roman legions vs warbands. Some make the legions unbreakable, some make the warbands out of control. Few get it right. It looks like FOG II is close but not there. The warb...

Re: Getting the best out of Velites?
My current tactic with this unit is to firstly attempt to ware down all cavalry flank and elephant attacks when applicable, then to use them as general irritation towards the larger army units. Is deploying and or fighting out of 'rough' terrain as big an advantage as suggested in the rules? Im get...

Re: Fog II and Pike and Shot II?
I wouldnt want ammo personally. but heck yes to the interface and pass through!
edit:
argument: ammo limit with armies and gameplay that are heavily reliant on shooting might just make the whole thing tedious in my opinion.

Re: Fog II and Pike and Shot II?
I would like a rules update for Pike & Shot Campaigns (and I would be willing to pay for it), but I wouldn't want the unit graphics to change. The 3-D modelling in Field of Glory II is both a content bottleneck and economic constraint. Which rules would you like updated? generals and cnc effect...

Re: Rate (categorize) FoG II Armies please!? (CustomMultipla
I'm relativey busy cacing in the bonus payments for working during the holidays atm :D but A I'm still planning to revise this list, cleaning up some of my hoplite bias and watching the post release immortal fire results. B I'm not sure if I should make a separate IF list or integrate it in the base...

well, first off, I enjoy looking at games this way, I dont mean to impede on anyones fun, start any negative debates or impose my opinion on anyone who doesnt agree. This is not an "But i crunched the numbers im right! X IS OP!!!" kind of approach, but very subjective. Second: I intentiona...

Re: Rate (categorize) FoG II Armies please!? (CustomMultipla
Well firstup I do agree I might be giving Hoplites a harsh time, but my Experience with them in MP and even SP has been less than stellar. Horse Archer Armies are definetely fun to play against each other (might have to be ranked seperatly), and are a unique challenge, I'm just working under the sub...

Re: Rate (categorize) FoG II Armies please!? (CustomMultipla
I think that it might be hard to rank armies like this, because their performance depends on who they are fighting. I think it would be more useful to have lists of "good matchups" and "bad matchups". I this is definetely doable in a reasonable way, as there are things that are ...
