Re: 'Easy' Level - REALLY?!?

Thanks for all the feedback, tips and comments. The previous poster sums up my experience of the Pyrrhus scenario! I'll give some of the other suggestions a try once I'm back home (in a week's time) :)

Re: 'Easy' Level - REALLY?!?

Well, I'm glad it's not just me!

I'm currently getting hammered in the 'Easy' level Pyrrhus scenario, and swiftly losing the will to continue...
This feels more like work than play, sadly.

'Easy' Level - REALLY?!?

I will probably get shot down in flames here - or more appropriately die in a hail of javelins and arrows - because I know that most Forum members are likely to strongly disagree with my viewpoint. Still, what the hell... So I bought Empires, and there is much about it that I LOVE. In particular, I ...

Re: What triggers an AI attack?

That's been my experience too, so far. If I want the AI to attack I send forward some pesky Light Cavalry or Psiloi to 'irritate' it into attacking. I was interested in finding out what the conditions for an AI advance were in a bit more detail, but I can understand Richard's reluctance to divulge t...

What triggers an AI attack?

Is there a specific factor that triggers an AI attack against an opponent, when the AI has initially appeared 'reluctant' to advance?
Is it when player-controlled units advance beyond a certain point on the battlefield?
Or is it more complex than that?

Thanks,
Jay

The support on this game is really extraordinary.
I agree, best ever. We're very fortunate.

Re: Wolves campaign frustration

Like the OP, I've bought every expansion that's come out up till now. But I'm also getting increasingly frustrated with the campaign module. Too many times I choose an interesting match-up, only to find myself at a random point in the campaign lined up against an 'ally' army that's composed of compl...

Epic Battles & Difficulty Levels Question

Hi folks,

I think that in the past the 'epic' battles were unaffected by the player difficulty level, as they were purely scenario based.
Is this still the case, or are the available forces for each epic battle impacted now by the difficulty setting?

TIA.

Re: Andalusian History and Warfare - Books?

Thanks Pete. I've added your recommendation to my wish list. In the meantime I've bought these two books - i) In God's Path: The Arab Conquests and the Creation of an Islamic Empire by Robert Hoyland ii) The Story of Moors in Spain by Stanley Lane-Poole (this one because it's virtually free on Kindl...

Andalusian History and Warfare - Books?

Hi folks, I'm excited about the latest expansion, not least because I've just got back from a short trip around Andalusia and was delighted to find that the wars in this region during the period of Muslim expansion and consolidation will be covered. I was wondering if anyone can recommend good backg...

Romans v Warbands

Hi folks, back to playing FoG II after a break, and I'm a bit bemused by a few recent games (against the AI). I've been playing late Romans in the Stilicho campaign. My bemusement is around why, when Roman infantry initiate melee, their chances of taking big casualties from the initial impact are so...
