Beautiful minatures, Expendable! Thanks for posting that gallery. I've just begun painting up a Later Seleucid army. I'm trying to figure out a paint scheme to go with. Many Seleucids I see on the internet are painted in a faux-Roman style: mostly red, with brass and blue highlights. Is that authen...

Re: Tin Soldier vikings
Good Morning! I'm looking to buy a few viking figures and currently considering getting them from Tin Soldier, but the picture they have on their web site isn't very clear. So does anyone have opinions or pictures of them? BTW as I'm only getting 12 bases I thought to mix the beserks, bondi and hus...

elephant changes considered for v2?
A friend with classical indian is thinking of expanding into the malay/thai/khmer to get to an elephant themesd army. Currently the elephants generally do very poorly vs almost everything when relied up to win games (even vs superior knights). The deaths rolls are the killer. Are there any/many chan...

having temporary attrition for an evades I like at first thought. I think the general restricitions to manouverabiliy are a good idea too, something along the lines of in a 'turn and move' manouver the turn takes up half of the movement rate. ie skirmishers take longer to get back into the action af...

Fake hussars
The Polish list in clash of empires can have one BG of fake Hussars that are deployed as mounted hussars models and can go on the wings.
Do they move as mounted hussars till they are 6 inches away or the moment you do a complex move (for mob) are you giving the game away.?

In short, I am not convinced this is an issue which needs to be addressed. In games where itsmattered that I have played its in relation to ambushes. In the case of villiages it woudl be good if it if was clear whether your ambush marker could be deployed behind a villiage or it it had to be in it....

Re: Metal 15mm lances
Does anybody know of any metal 15mm European knight type lances. Like to Xyston or North Star epears that do not bend like the one supplied with the figures? I presume you mean lances with a flared shaft ending in a guard covering the hand. Mirliton make them but they are to bendy anyway. I respear...

I like the simplicity of all foot being on 20 mm bases and all mounted being on 40 mm bases. I can't for the life of me figure out why it should be impossible to turn 90 and back with single ranked cav, while chariots do it as a matter of course. Now, if chariots had to be on 60mm deep bases, that ...

Of all the proposed changes that are currently being beta tested, the terrain ones seem to be among the least contraversial and best received. I think they will eliminate most of the current issues that people have with this. hopefully something to prevent people from selecting terrain simply to no...

By and large the terrain and initiative rules work fairly well. Some modification is required with rivers and roads and such like. But it isn't broken so why does it need to be fixed? I agree. The deployment order for terrain etc... will address this. Moving second is less a problem for mounted/dri...

Re: impending fix for HF failings in V2?
Clearly "Combined arms" is the most popular, but what is it that everyone likes so much? Is it the "best of both worlds" idea or is there something else? I think the 4 inch move if outside 6 will help HF armies significantly but only if you ignore skirmishers in the determinatio...

Yes, but generals base sizes are specific to generals, not dependent on how they are depicted. So I wasn't sure if that provision extended to generals as well. There's a definite potential advantage to having generals on bigger bases, and (unlike deeper bases for real troops) little disadvantage th...

It doesn't count as a rear charge - therefore you move to the front don't you? Just like if you hit a BG in the flank that isn't a flank charge - you get moved to the front of the file you hit? Why doesnt it count as a rear charge? They arent 'defenders' being rear charged across FF. They are just ...

Thanks Kev, have looked at Latin Greece and didn't fancy the almughavars as an ally as they could only be in one part of the table, I fancied the option to spread them around a bit. Rob If you want to be attacking with Amulgvars on both sides of the knights you really need 4 BGs of them and that do...

I was going to say I dont see what the problem was - a rear charge is a ++ so it doesnt matter but then I read the section on obstacles on page 121.
