Re: Order of Battle: Allies Defiant - New units preview

That "Handley Page Halifax" looks good. Can't wait to see all these in action!

Re: Campaign Trees

Its good there is no branching otherwise there are maps you never play unless you cheat to get through it in a decisive or you intentionally do not get a decisive to get a regular victory etc. I agree with this. I do not like the feeling of completing a campaign but not having experiencing all of i...

Re: Order of Battle - v8.6.5 Update

Maybe all these new units have been added in preparation for the new DLC (Allies Defiant)? I can't wait to see these new units in action in new scenarios/campaigns!

Re: Order of Battle: Allies Defiant - Announced

Yes! I'm really happy with the direction of that DLC. That aircraft carrier with yellow lines on its flight deck in the last picture is really cool... can't wait to play these DLCs! Also, "Allies Defiant" is a great name for such a DLC, it reinforces the feeling that the stakes are high and that the...

I'm all for OOB continuing exploring more obscure WW2 stuff (like in the Burma Road campaign)

It's true that the possibility to buy such defensive equipment would be great in defense scenarios

What a topic for a major movie production!
Indeed! It would make for a great war drama with tank action.

Re: Map Scale and Size/Make Up of Units

As others have mentioned, map scale is very flexible in OOB... some game mechanics throws any "real life logic" out of the window for good though, in order to make for better/more fluid gameplay. For example airplanes stay up in the air for 10+ turns which is, all in all, absurd if one is to believe...

I'm supporting it too. The announcement was made a year and a half ago though, which is a long time.

How do you spend your time in OOB?

Hello, Just out of curiosity, how do you spend your time in OOB? I have no doubt that most people in this forum play the game very often. What do you do in the game? Do you mainly play campaigns? Do you replay them several times? Do you spend most of your playtime actually modding (making campaigns ...

Re: 20 years of thank you!

Thanks for your work! I discovered "serious" strategy games because of my love for Advance Wars, a Nintendo game, and because of my longing for a new game in this series, but Matrix/Slitherine games scratched that itch and more, with games such as Order of Battle, Panzer Corps, and even more hardcor...

Re: Point of Special forces?

I wish I could answer this question. I think if the scenario is not designed with them in mind, these units are mostly useless, or only good for lightly harassing enemy units. Unfortunately, I have yet to encounter a campaign map where they could really shine. Didn't play all the DLCs though!

Re: The PzC 2 storm is finally here.

Honnestly there are now 2 "big" operational-level games with beer-and-pretzels gameplay and I just find it so surprising and enjoyable that we're at that point, despite strategy games being somewhat niche. Maybe in five years there'll be 3 or 4 and there will be even more threads like this one here ...

Re: The PzC 2 storm is finally here.

Yes I agree that "the ultimate World War II strategy game" is a bit of a weird claim for PzC2. It doesn't even have anything related to the Pacific. With all its campaigns, OoB would qualify better for that title. But hey, that's marketing towards casual for you. As for PzC2, my PC, which is already...

Maybe the current events have delayed the process allowing for the game to be downloadable or something :( Maybe someone who had to tick something somewhere couldn't come to work or some other thing

Screwed, that's the word :) Nah I'm on a regular PC, but I don't want to go through the hassle of opening it and tinker with the components. I'll just find a way for sure
