Re: Amendments to V3?

I recently bought a PDF copy of ADLG for just €5.
I believe that is because the current version is out of print and a new version will be published later this year. I suspect the new version will cost rather more than a fiver.

Re: Belgarum 2020 22nd 23rd february

So imitation legionaries are ok, but mf lanciarii and those with clubs are not?
That is my understanding Phil.

David - what is the deadline for lists and who is the list checker please?

Re: Northern Classic - Game 5 vs Romans

And now for the full version! And so onto the final game vs Phil Powell and his LRR army. Phil had taken me apart at Britcon and I hoped that my reimagined 900 AP army would prove a sterner test for him. My anti Roman 900 AP list was an IC, 2 x TC, 1 x 10 Sup Pike, 3 x 10 Avg Pike, 3 x 6 Thracians w...

The Northern Classic - Game 4 vs Dacians

On Sunday morning I found I was drawn against Brian Espie and his Dacians. The Dacian Falxmen are quite scary as they are Sup Impact foot with HW. I decided to stick to my plan and went with my 800 AP choice as did Brian. Brian’s army was IC + TC, 4 x 6 Falxmen, 2 x 10 Warriors, 4 x 8 Warriors, 1 x ...

The Northern Classic - Game 3 vs Early Successor

Having managed to string 2 wins together I am in 2nd place and my reward is to play Paul Bartlett who is leading at this point with his Early Successor. As per my strategy I go with my 850 AP version but Paul trumps me and plays his 900 AP army. If you thought Chris had a lot of pike – check this lo...

The Northern Classic - Game 2 vs Eastern Han

Game 2 is against Dave Morrison using Eastern Han. Dave is fielding the Steppe version which is entirely cavalry. I think Dave’s army is 3 x TC, 1 x 4 LH Bow, 2 x 4 Unprotected Cav Bow, Sw – undrilled, 2 x 4 Prot Cav XB Sw, 4 x 6 Arm Cav LtSp Sw, 2 x 4 Arm Cav LtSp Sw and 1 x 4 Elite Arm Cav XB Sw. ...

The Northern Classic - Game 1 vs Early Successors

The Northern Classic was a new 5 game event hosted by MAWS. The theme was any army from 500 BC to 500 AD. The twist was variable points. Each player would use an 800 AP army twice, an 850 AP army twice and a 900 AP army once. Points were not declared until after deployment. I thought my Alexandrian ...

Re: Belgarum 2020 22nd 23rd february

I'm sure David will respond if I have this wrong but having travelled back with him from Manchester I believe I understand the restriction. But apologies if I have it wrong. The list of armies and date range are as above. The restriction applies to 'Legionaries'. So anyone with 'Legionary or Legiona...

Re: The Northern Classic

Thanks to everyone at MAWS for putting on this new event for us. I really enjoyed the variable points format. I had 5 great games vs Chris, Dave, Paul, Brian & Phil. Good to see Phil wining the prize draw given he had 3 times the work checking all of the lists. And full marks to Pamela for all of he...

Re: Eastern Han Chinese

I don't think so.

All terrain choices are replaced with Steppe refers to all 4 of the choices for the list. If you want a definitive answer I suggest you email that nice Mr Shaw.

Re: Eastern Han Chinese

FWIW I agree with Messrs Fairhurst & Espie. If my Alex Mac army invades the E Han with their Steppe list then I know I have to choose Steppe if I win initiative. But if the E Han invade Macedonia they don't get to bring the Steppe with them. If they win initiative they can choose from Agricultural o...

Re: The Northern Classic

Looks an awful lot like a re-run of Britcon but with variable points instead of variable table sizes. Should be fun.

Re: Warfare 2019

Terry won, Graham Evans 2nd & Paul Bartlett 3rd. Some numpty who made some poor decisions in his final game came 4th. Another great weekend of wargaming though and 4 cracking games vs Craig, Steve M, Steve B & Terry - thank guys. I thought Graham chose a very interesting theme with a good mix of via...
