Re: A look at the new features of Order of Battle: Kriegsmarine

I tend to agree with the idea of the concept of a stable firing solution. Where it falls apart is the concept that Closing the range does not greatly simplify the firing solution. Closing from 20,000 yards to 10000 yrs greatly simplifies things. It also totally ignores firing ships vrs target speed...

Re: Tell me about Difficulty

Here you go, straight from the unit navigation tool. What's that sword icon and why it doesn't show in-game? https://i.ibb.co/Jm1269Y/lol.jpg The value without the sword is the 0% cover value, the value with the sword is 100% cover value. Both display in game, but under the same icon. BTW the only ...

Re: Questions about the specifics of some parts of the combat system

Well, I'm not the coder behind OOB, so I go mostly by trait descriptions: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=264&t=47558&p=448062&hilit=weakflanks#p448062 So, unfortunately I can't give you the exact numbers or formula on this stuff. Unfortunately that’s just the hover tooltip for the ...

Re: Saving Some Command Points as a Strategic Reserve

I’d personally rather deploy formations that have the tools they need to survive any combination of threats while getting their job done than hold a big chunk of points in reserve. But multiplayer is weird and has different needs than either the real world or scenarios.

What about the little sword icon and why I do not see it in my game? I can even see in the unit database.
Screenshot it and post it

Re: Questions about the specifics of some parts of the combat system

Any hopes of a developer comment on this? It’d also be nice to get the total combat formula but I suspect that’s a bridge too far :-)

Re: Tell me about Difficulty

tanks have high values for clear terrain and low ones for close. The closer the terrain, the more the stat approach the minimum value. Actually that’s wrong and a good example of why you should check an individual tank’s stats. Most of your post was unfortunately wrong. Most tanks have a high value...

Re: Armoured Cars vs. Light Tanks

As a heavy armored car user, you’re not really seeing their differences! First off, more modern light tanks do have split movement. I should know, they added it because I asked for it! Second, scout cars and light tanks have different chassis which affects their mobility substantially. Light tanks l...

Re: Tell me about Difficulty

I agree with your point, scenarios and especially knowing how to play the scenarios makes a huge difference. For instance my Yelnaya experience this go round vs previous ones was very different because this go round I figured out the trick of it while last go round I brute forced it. The difficulty ...

Re: Yelnaya Operation AAR Max Difficulty

At this point the enemy is pretty much done. I secured the last mech kill and have overwhelming superiority on the field as well as plenty of time to finish the mission before the 18 turn bonus objective. If you're curious about the rest I strongly encourage you to pop the replay into your %USERPROF...

Re: Yelnaya Operation AAR Max Difficulty

Start of turn 10. Arare picture from the very bottom of the map where the enemy are finally making their move. In retrospect I allocated my forces very oddly down here. I should have oriented my defense toward the north where most of the enemy units were located and an intact bridge exists, but inst...

Re: Yelnaya Operation AAR Max Difficulty

https://i.imgur.com/mooA9r5.png Start of Turn 9. You can see my Yak and heavy bomber coming in from the far southeast, while a German heavy fighter's wingtip is just visible in the far southwest. I managed to seize the secondary objective finally, putting more pressure on the enemy supply network. ...

https://i.imgur.com/qH6Re9T.png Start of Turn 8. I'm finally driven off the northwest bridge despite investing heavily in holding in it. Worse yet my infantry only survives through sheer dumb luck after being attacked in marshland by an 8str heavy infantry with medium efficiency at 3str. Worst of a...

Re: Yelnaya Operation AAR Max Difficulty

https://i.imgur.com/UCV5zHj.png Start of Turn 5. As you can see here, the overall plan is now taking shape. I've used my T-38 (an amphibious tank) to skip past Kardymovo which has a defending infantry unit and am already harassing the enemy artillery. I don't feel my little tankette can handle it g...

Re: Yelnaya Operation AAR Max Difficulty

Here's the start of turn 3: https://i.imgur.com/CmjAxMd.png As can be seen here, I made a mistake with my engineers and moved them to the wrong tile. There's a forest on this tile, so it isn't ideal for artillery crossing in their motorized transports. I opted to build it anyway because it would hav...

I've included an attachment with the replay so others can follow along with how I fought this scenario precisely, and I'll give a short highlights reel account. Yelnaya Operation AAR Max Difficulty

I had previously considered this scenario hard and super unpleasant. The enemy has a lot of artillery and dug in infantry and casualties for me are usually high. I realize now that this is because I didn't conduct a thorough map review before starting it which, uh, stupid. The solution to this missi...
