Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

You can't legislate against this behaviour as it is not a discreet action. Setting armies close together eliminates skill in maneuver. But the entire idea that someone would pick an army in a league setting AND BE WILLING TO DRAW at 0-0 unless handed all the advantages like having their opponent att...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

I don't blame a player for doing what they think is necessary to preserve their army, but I believe that there should be some sort of rule to prevent turtling. Maybe if no casualties have been inflicted for five turns running, then whoever controls the four middle squares wins a 40-0 victory, or so...

Re: Please don't make me come and get you.

In most games someone takes a defensive position. That is normally because one army is disadvantaged because of terrain and army composition. Part of the challenge in the league is to pick an army that can do well in any situation and still be competitive. A skill I'm definitely struggling with :-)...

Please don't make me come and get you.

Please don't make me come across the map and get you. This is from the Digital League and I have blacked out the armies involved to avoid naming and shaming but this is absurd and rest assured it is not only this instance. More than half of my games have my opponent with troops within 5-10 squares o...

Re: Arrows vs Armour: Agincourt Myth Busting

Sadly we don't know as the distances are typically not mentioned in these types of things and the gentleman is long dead so we cannot get clarification :) . I would assume no more than 50-75 meters at the very most. It was a hot day on soft ground and with your head tucked down and only a small slit...

Re: ZOCs blocking break-offs.

ZoC rules in turn-based games as I have stated before exist typically to increase friction between units and to prevent units, especially faster ones, from making "zoom zoom" moves that look and feel gamey. ZoC management is a big part of this game and not respecting them puts you in peril and reinf...

Re: ZOCs blocking break-offs.

I feel the upcoming version 1.5.19 addressed it well. Not the pinning issue. They can now (auto) disengaged when odds are unfavorable but are still easily pinned by another diagonally facing infantry unit. That hasn't changed. This is certainly something we could look into. The question is whether ...

Re: Arrows vs Armour: Agincourt Myth Busting

When it comes to the "quality plate" I have yet to see any testing where a plate of any quality would have been penetrated. I also doubt that anyone would produce a full plate of such low quality that it would shatter from arrows. There are easier to manufacture armour types if good plate is not an...

Re: Moving through a ZOC

@GrayMouser. The rule change is easy. A move is only allowed by a unit if it does not conflict with any ZoC rules instead of arbitrarily picking one and ignoring the others.

Re: Nearing the 100 hour mark

Can you take a screenshot? It seems unlikely that your graphic's card can't handle the shaders if it is not an FPS performance issue. I read a bit into what Reshade does and it seems likely it is just a settings issue. Thanks for this, here's the screenshot - I haven't read about Reshade but just t...

Re: Nearing the 100 hour mark

Thanks this is good to know and I appreciate your offer for advice on requirements of more demanding titles. I've been mostly an AGEOD type of game person but I'll have a think about what might be needed going forwards. Look before you leap in this area. Buying "gaming" computer gear is one of the ...

Re: Nearing the 100 hour mark

Any midrange or better GPU released 5 years ago or better is already overkill for FoG2 ar 1080p. The GTX 970 I was using had no problems playing and recording at the same time. Should easily handle a simple post processing fx like ReShade too. A used one on the US/Cdn market is about 80/125 bucks. T...

Re: Bug on hills borders

I changed several alternative settings without success :( Do the developers have *any* objections with the use of a DX9 wrapper until AMD resolves the driver bug? dgVoodoo2 solves the problem for me perfectly. http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo2/dgVoodoo2.html I got it tonight and I am using it right ...

Re: Bug on hills borders

I just upgraded to an AMD RX 5700XT and I too have this bug now. Never happened before on my old GTX 970 edit: @Pip, how does the game handle textures on hills? I have tried stripping every setting available in the Radeon driver suite to try and figure out what is going on. It appears to be linked s...

Re: Early Middle Ages recruitment is now open . . .

Sorry for the delay, entirely new section to me, had a hard time nailing down picks.

1) Viking (Ireland) 780AD w/Scots-Irish
2) Byzantine 988-1041 AD (might regret this one)
3) Arab Conquest 638 AD
4) Welsh 600AD w/ Anglosaxon 950AD

Classical is missing 105BC Romans

Thanks. (stockwellpete)
So the Roman 105BC is not moving to Later Antiquity?
Pete said that he is keeping Late Antiquity to 0-599 AD?
