Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

I'm sorry to be harsh, but perhaps I've missed the entire point of this game. If I wanted something merely "fun" that was cool to look at and captured the "flavor" of ancient warfare, why wouldn't I simply fire up Rome II Total War ? At least in that game, you see the AI trying to maintain some mod...

Re: Automatic pushback/pursuit with infantry absolutely ruins this game

I am not going to rehash all the things I have discussed before but I personally feel that limiting pushbacks to this system is a major negative in terms of a player skill check.

Re: Open letter to all those who play or who may play in a public Slitherine tournament

In three of the last six Slitherine FOG II tournaments, I have been matched with players who failed to finished their games or who surrendered early when things went against them. To these players, current and future, I ask that before you sign up to play in a Slitherine tournament, please make a c...

Re: New units add suggestion

As an aside, someone has uploaded an outstanding lecture by a professor at University of Green Bay where experimental archaeological was used to reconstruct linen armour and test its efficacy. It confirms that it was very effective.

Hi there,

Once you log in, are you clicking on the "My Games" tab? Once you open that up, there should be a My turn, enemy turn, and completed tab. Are all of those blank? Try clicking on each one

Re: What's the probability of disaster occurs?

I just played one game that have four disasters occurred during that 24-turn game, either in advantage, slightly advantage or slightly disadvantage. Among the four, two disasters are consecutive. It seems that it happens quite often. In my other games, you may not meet that many but one or two in 2...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I feel winning a 60% to 59% match where the simple cast of the die may have decided the winner should not be an all versus nothing score. I feel a player who looses every match but pushed every one of their opponents to within a percentage point or two of breaking must of played well and deserves t...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Just to be clear, my tier list is strictly a guide based off *known* results from competitive play and where required my own personal experience and analysis when an army has not seen a lot of play. It is more of a guide for players to avoid getting ambushed by absurd match ups in pick up games or a...

Re: Indicative poll for the FOG2DL

In terms of anomalies, so far I have picked up one for the hybrid 2/3 idea and four for option 4 in the poll. They are . . . 1) hybrid 2/3 idea - players in a tactical 35% -35% draw will score 1 point each, the same as a player losing 20-44 in a marginal defeat. 2) option 4 - a player losing a matc...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

.... you may be up against a better opponent, or you are facing difficult terrain, then players are perfectly entitled to make it as hard as possible for their opponent to defeat them. Except this creates a situation where it is actively not enjoyable for the person on the receiving end of this tre...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I don't like bannings outside something be egregiously too good. It never solves anything other than removing the need for players to adapt and find solutions. If there is the risk of Horse Archer armies being able to exploit the scoring system rule, then there is a problem with the scoring system, ...

Re: Classical Antiquity: winners post your result here . . .

Division A

MikeC (Romans) def ruskicanuk (Persians) 49-63

I played poorly and got good dice rolls. I botched this battle from beginning to end but sometimes, Vet Hastati/Principes just don't care and end up doing all the work for you.

edit: GGs to all my opponents in this division.

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I am unsure of the exact mechanics required to address this but I will say that the scoring system should overwhelmingly award players who take the risk of engaging in battle vs willingly retreating to a super strong point or simply refusing to engage unless in the optimal circumstances. A player sh...

Re: New units add suggestion

Different is they started to use the spatha(long sword) and elliptical shields like cavalrys, and restart to equipment the chain armor. Which would not affect classification under the rules. I would be interested if there is a chance to see a more detailed classification of armor, weapons etc. in a ...
