Re: Civil War III
I am late to this party, but no less enthusiastic to see a new version of Civil War. It's a terrific game, and it deserves to have new life breathed into it. ESPECIALLY if Philippe Thibault and Pocus can be brought back to develop it! I don't pre-order many games these days, but this is one I have a...

Re: Civil War III
Yes, please, please go ahead with a new Civil War. CW2 is/was by far the most confounding, challenging, and immersive CW game I've played, and I believe I've played nearly every one of them in the past what -- 30 years? Probably . . . . I'm ready for a new challenge! (and btw, when you're done with ...

Re: Chaining "Needed" Trade Goods
Thanks for the answer about chains of "needed" goods. I don't think someone built a canal, because it was pretty early in the game for that, but whatever! Now, bonus goods do have a limited chain, bring it in to one region (anyway you can) and all the adjacent regions can then access it. W...

Chaining "Needed" Trade Goods
Ok, can someone please help me understand a topic that is still murky to me -- namely, whether "needed" trade goods can be chained to extend their availability. Take papyrus as an example. In my current game, I somehow managed to pull papyrus to Apulia in Italy (in the heel of the "bo...

Re: Additional parameter: trade screen
I want to endorse this idea, or at least some variant of it. For example, what if you could have a map filter whereby you could choose a single trade good and then have the map show where it was a missing bonus or a missing need? Something like that might be useful. Another useful change might be to...

You know, I half-suspected that was something for modders to use when I saw it.
Thanks for clearing it up.

Coastal Resource restriction?
Hi, Guys -- I just saw that the public beta has had another update, and included in the patch notes is this slightly cryptic line: Resources can be coastal restricted Can someone please tell me what this means and what its implications are for game balance? Thanks. And thanks for all the work on the...

Re: Peace Treaties Arent Working Right in the 1.0.6.7 Beta
Ok,even though the save file isn't that large (3+ MB zipped) it clearly can't be directly uploaded by means of this forum.
So if someone is interested in seeing the save file, please let me know where to send it.

Re: Peace Treaties Arent Working Right in the 1.0.6.7 Beta
Thank you - I know where saves are. That's how I managed to zip the save file and attempt to upload it to this forum using the attachment tab. Which didn't work, as I pointed out in the last message. I've tried it again here.

Well no, clearly that's not where he asked me to upload the save file. I tried attaching a zipped save file to this post, but it doesn't seem to work.

Re: Peace Treaties Arent Working Right in the 1.0.6.7 Beta
Sorry, Pocus, it's not clear how you want this reported. Do you want me to use the Tech Support Forum above in FoGE, or by opening a ticket with Slitherine via the "Support" option? From your reply, it sounded like the latter, but I can's see a way to upload the save file. Maybe it would b...

Peace Treaties Arent Working Right in the 1.0.6.7 Beta
I've been playing with the new beta, and I have found several times that peace treaties displace the opponent's armies into regions that the opponent had not taken in the war, did not take in the turn just before peace was concluded, and were not part of the negotiations. Often these were regions th...

Re: What drives war wearniess upwards?
Hmm . . . I'm not so sure. I have played games where a "war" was ongoing for 15 or 20 turns, with no evidence of increasing war weariness.
Well, it's something to keep an eye on.

What drives war wearniess upwards?
It often happens that years pass in an ongoing war during which nothing happens and war weariness doesn't accumulate. That's the correct way to model the effect, I think, but that raises the obvious question of what does drive war weariness higher. Is it losses, or number of battles, or what?

Re: Stranded armies at end of war
I believe sometimes it does happen that armies are returned to the nearest region, but it's certainly not consistent.

Re: Grognerd's Guide is FINISHED!
Thanks a ton for writing up this fabulous guide. It's s must for all players like me, who by now have a measure of experience with the game but could use some useful hints and a sense of how the structures progress. It's a great contribution! I have one quibble, and this is probably one of those thi...

Re: 'Needs' needs explanation :)
Along these lines, is there an easy way to see on the map which provinces produce a widely used material such as stone or wood? There are many times when I am presented with the choice of build infrastructure that yields a given resource, but then I need to click around on neighboring region to see ...

Re: Comments on peace treaties and other deals
Just to go back to the issue of metal, money and manpower for a moment: Yes, of course I agree that there are factions for which manpower and/or metal are perennially in short supply. The Greek factions are prime examples of this. The problem is, there are many more factions -- in my experience, at ...

Re: Poll on decisions
Metal i have in abundance in all my games too but manpower is a totally different beast try sparta and you will be converting money to manpower... (at least i did multiple times) That's a good point. I too have played as one of the Greek city-states, and manpower was definitely a scarce resource! B...
