Re: Possible Remake?

Hi Kaal979. No, there will never be a remake. Everyone has moved on to FOG2. Cothyso, who was the main guy working on the revamped Fog1(with the Unity engine) has seemed to have gone AWOL, and I can't blame him as no one is paying him to continue development on this game. He was working on it in his...

Re: Impetuosity Check

This is a marmite thing. It was in FOG1 and some people liked it and some people hated it. While it is realistic for this sort of thing to happen occasionally, it isn't realistic for it to happen too often. Taking your example of troops on a hilltop, that would essentially make it impossible for an...

Thanks Richard, interesting thread. As much as I expected... look for good terrain. Too bad on random maps there isn't a Vesuvius volcano to hole up on...

Re: FoG(U) 2018 state update

So it's coming on to nearly 6 months since we last heard from you Cothyso. I and others realize you have a life and another job and that your continued working on this game was provisional. That being said, it would be nice if you would update us on your continued support of this game. Have you give...

Re: Share some unique/strange tactics that you came up with!

Some of these tactics are kind of 'cheesy' though, and ahistorical I feel. The diagonal line conundrum, combined with squares in this game borders on being ridiculous. And the(very commonly used) charging already routed units to gain a further movement bonus is 'gaming the system' in my opinion and ...

Anyone Have Any Success...

...with the Spartacus Slave Revolt army against their Roman foes? If so what did you do specifically to win? I'm finding this army a hard boat to row, and figure unless you have favorable terrain on your side, you're pretty well done. Tips?

Re: Do you prefer light spear cavalry or lancers?

I find Lancers underwhelming in this game. Not at all, as I have read about them in military history books. And if you include Cataphracts under the Lancer moniker then they are doubly underwhelming.

Will There Be Khazars & Pechenegs

So far I have not seen Khazar nor Pecheneg armies represented in this game. Will they be represented in an upcoming DLC? Also as an aside I have not seen the Khazars represented in FOG1(though the Pechenegs were). Is/was this a conscious decision by the developers of both iterations of FOG to exclud...

There are 2 games to complete the semi-final round of my 2018 competition, then the grand final round.

I will set up another tournament, hopefully in March so we can complete it well before Christmas
Great news.

I knew someone would pick Transylvanians.
I've as yet to play them, what's so fascinating about them, other than their leader Vlad being the Halloween yard decorating champion?

Re: Favorite Army

My favourite is Transylvanians. How come the Transylvanians Richard? I am just a vampire at heart. And I can make the troop combination work, given a reasonable amount of terrain on the map. Beware the Transylvanian forest! (Especially within a 20 mile radius around Castle Dracula).

I guess I'm not very observant...

I was playing a game with Louis XIII's French army when I was watching my Dragoons move forward, Lo and behold, the figures mount their horse when moving and dismount when they stop! What a wonderful touch! After all these years I never noticed. Yeah I know small minds and all that... But it would h...

Re: Favorite Army

It would be impossible for me to pick one favorite, but a few standouts - The early English lists with their mix of bows, bills, and arquebus Russian lists, with Bardiche and Arquebus armed Streltsy acting as an anchor for Bow armed, armored cavalry, supported by lance and bow armed cossack light h...

French (Italian Wars) with their big blocks of Swiss Cheese and nice Gendarmes. Also partial to the Ottomans and the Polish.
So you're fond of those big Swiss Pike blocks then? Ottomans are a potent army, not too fond of fighting against them though...

Favorite Army

What is your favorite army and why? Doesn't matter which time period, from approx. 1500-1700. What factors influenced your choice? Was it just from playing one so much that you got comfortable with it? Or perhaps a certain historical period appealed to you? Or maybe you were more the type that enjoy...

Battle to darkness.

Recently I've had two games that have gone the distance till nightfall. And in both of them I was declared the loser, although in one, I was ahead in causing damage to my enemies troops. Anyone frequently battle till darkness falls? And maybe more importantly lose the match even though the enemy has...
