Re: Phalanx/Heavies defense/offense ratings

Maybe a bonus that only applies if they are at maximum effectiveness, to highlight the phalanx's fragility? In FoG2, phalanx power drops disproportionately as they lose troops. I like how the current system works in practice but I'll grant that it is counterintuitive. Or high number if they have no...

Re: Germanic independent army region behaviour

They are indeed merging large armies, and Germany is having a lot of regions to muster small armies. They are named independent but behave like a warchief is organising the lot. Would be great if instead of merging all the time there is a percentage they fight each other as animosity kicks in. So I ...

Re: Phalanx/Heavies defense/offense ratings

Being an attacker or defender is hard to tell in open battles. The individual unit that did not move seems the best to nominate as defender. Even during a siege the ones behind the walls can exit while the ones doing the siege keep their position. Most of the time an assault against troops behind wa...

Re: Provincial military bonuses

If you build anything, a pop up message, are you sure to build this here, as at that other place you can build the same with better stats, would be a real help. You still can say, yes I do, for whatever reason.

Re: Can we get more India?

Did you see the special fortress the Mauryan Empire has. It can send armies east and get a bonus representing gains made there.

Re: Phalanx/Heavies defense/offense ratings

The attack defence feels weird. Those numbers could be used for field and siege battles.

Re: Killer Stacks

It is implemented in 1.03, but given that you had some "free upkeep" on 10+ units, the most experienced units were costing zero anyway. But this has changed, with 1.04 "free unit upkeep" top at 20 money 5 metal and 5 manpower. So you should feel more the sting of having experienced units. Some buil...

Re: Trading range

There are subtle differences in needed and bonus goods, and import of goods out of trading range only works for the building asking for it and paying a steep price. So general rules have exceptions.

Re: Some Diplomacy thoughts and suggestions

Winning a battle and demanding war compensation instead of taking control comes to mind as a diplomatic tool to punish those raiders and avoid taking regions you do not want.

Re: Switching nations in multiplayer?

Switching nations sounds amazing, acting as a leader your dead makes you switch to another nation that gets a new leader. So you play in the same game from different angles. Adding all scores for an endscore. It's probably just daydreaming.

Want to feel how it is for a Roman army to overcome German superior numbers in a Marsh ? Accept the challenge made by me in a custom battle. The idea is that you reach the other side of the map, as that is not a scenario, we have to make the gentlemen's agreement that I surrender as soon as your tro...

Re: Production user interface

It was a conscious design decision to move away from deterministic build queue, as done since Civ I. We know that this is a feature that most of you like or at least have no problem with, and a few despise. I guess that's the price to pay for moving away from the canon of the genre. There are benef...

Trait Ambusher,Guerrilla

The modifiers do puzzle me as do the use of the general with the trait. Does the army have to attack to use the trait ? Are the modifiers for the own troops or do they effect the enemies troops? The name suggests it's a defensive trait that gives a bonus to your own troops in certain terrain, while ...

Looking forward to the answer of the developers. Behind walls it's clear who is defending, but on an open battlefield it's not so clear.

Re: Cavalry and Battle Frontage Solution

I think a performance boost for cavalry on the flanks, or a malus for infantry, would really help make the cavalry worthwhile. At present I don't buy any because they are poor value for money. Maybe having reserved spaces at the end of the line for cavalry (limited to certain terrains where cavalry...

Re: Cavalry and Battle Frontage Solution

Great idea, to promote combined arms. Giving positive modifiers for troops at the right spot in the battleline and negative modifiers if they have to do things they are not good at. Thinking about using Speed, Flanking and Skirmishing as possible factors that decide if they get rewarded or punished ...

Re: Objective in Allied States

That objective is there for the moment they backstab you. You can plan ahead to grab it the moment his dagger moves. Or declare war on him, wait till he captures two of your regios then grab the objective and make peace. Rebuild the relationship and you can feel good about it. You gave him two for o...

Re: an historical game ?

i understand that many things can't be historical and ok, it's not too bad but it is a shame that at least some troops are irrelevant. I play Carthage, impossible to recruit light javelinmens ! it is the most common and easier troops to have but no. You conquer lybia who is renown for his light tro...
