Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 5

Shocking news from Gravelotte (France)!! Prussian troops pushed the French out of their positions and pressed relentlessly towards Metz. The French, commanded by Marshal Dilly, dug in on the line of hills starting from St. Privat. Only a madman would attempt to attack such fortified positions. But t...

Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 4

We are happy to report the victory of the King of Prussia's allies over the coalition that unfairly attacked us. The enemy cavalry, with a bold raid, wanted to surprise the English and Hessians who were slowly moving to new positions. Fortunately, they finally managed to slowly form a decent line an...

Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 2

This time the Austrians have known how to react and have reinforced their center, against which all the Prussian attacks have crashed, which have not been able to take the hills. The massacre has been terrible, but the Austrians have endured the orderly attacks they have received with excellent mor...

Re: Feudal lords rule campaign Round 3

The fierce and bloody battle ended very unexpectedly. The Prussian attack was met with a lively counterattack by the Austrians, and even their commander, like Demetrius at Ipsos, threw himself into the fight. And just as Demetrius forgot about his father, LinkinBrick forgot about securing the strate...

Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 2

The surprising Austrian attack on the center of the Prussian positions was met with accurate fire from disciplined Prussian veterans. And the battle was lost by the Austrians, their reinforcements did not manage to reach the battlefield in time. So Prussia is once again victorious in its march to gl...

The limited ammo was only in mod, as I remember. I regular battle there is unlimited ammo.

Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 2

Can you check if the player pairs have been entered correctly?
Were the Prussians and Austrians teams permanent or do they change?
Because I see a little confusion in the fixed battles in the ladder.

Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 1

Dragoons transitioned from mounted infantry to medium cavalry some time in the 18th century. Which were they during the Battle of Soor (or were they a mix)? From what I know, already in the times of Friedrich Wilhelm I, dragoons operated practically only as typical cavalry. From what I can tell dra...

Re: The Prussian Heyday Round 1

The Prussians, using finesse Roman tactics (massive frontal attack), drove the Austrians from the hills near Soor.
There's nothing more interesting to say here. The plan was crude, but it worked.

It should afaik, during the fire phase, but not as reaction fire to movement.
That is what I thought but in my current MP game am pretty sure it isn't.
Will keep watching it.
It is not firing in opponents turn.
It is firing in "firing phase" of yours army (before yours main turn).

A game designers' view involving the aforementioned Duncan Head: https://www.ancientbattles.com/WAB_Persians/WAB_kardakes.htm My opinion is same as Duncan's. So to simplify the discussion: What exactly do you think Kardakes should look like in the game? (Weapons, Armor, Morale, Combat Rating (Mediu...

Re: Add Kardakes/Cardaces to the Achaemenid 419-329 BC and the Seleucid 300-206 BC lists?

Nothing mythical about "Kardakes", the discussion is on how they fought. The problem is that in several studies I read, each one presented a different vision of their fighting style and weapons. I have never seen a clear statement that would allow them to be classified as hoplites, phalan...

Re: Add Kardakes/Cardaces to the Achaemenid 419-329 BC and the Seleucid 300-206 BC lists?

But no one really knows who these mythical "Kardakes" were At Raphia, you mean? I agree. I am adding the usual Irregular Foot unit to represent any that weren't skirmishing. I was thinking more about these Achaemenid "Kardakes". EDIT: I have not heard of the Seleucid "Karda...
