Re: To whoever did mission design for US '42
My two cents is I think the campaign designer is doing a great job. I got whacked by the scenario cited at the start of the thread. But then came back and found a much better defense that was coherent. Everytime I get complacent in the campaign I get nicely whacked! Which is just right. So thanks fo...

Recommended First Campaign?
Had this since its release (including the more recent version). Going to try to get into tonight. Any suggested first campaign? My ideal first campaign: 1) decent narrative -- the campaign itself is interesting in terms of its course and history. 2) challenging but not for an expert - I'm a novice! ...

Who did the graphics and trailer? In house Slitherine or out? They are amazing. Maybe best I've seen for a Matrixgames game.

Re: Need challenging BA2 campaign advise please
Also delighted to see an apparent improvement in the AI. The enemy AI actually guessed at where I retreated and took suppressive fire shots. Pretty cool. Never seen that before. And I lost. But I feel I could have won with more care. Well done designers!

Trying out the new Kursk campaign (German), delighted to say I am getting my fanny handed to my one first scenario of the campaign
Started well enough but now being cut to ribbons!

I will proceed then on assumption that each later campaign is harder.

Re: Need challenging BA2 campaign advise please
Thanks Joe. Maybe the Soviets then. Remember I am no super expert. I found many of the original BA ones pretty challenging. I understand bringing new players in. Maybe you design for a spectrum of campaigns where there is an easy "Barbarossa" but then gets harder. Then more people are satisfied (I w...

Re: Need challenging BA2 campaign advise please
Thanks Peter. Iron man mode! My ideal would still be simply a campaign more challenging than Barbarossa as in the original BA. However doesn't seem any clear consensus on what would be harder. I agree BTW the missions in Barbarossa were interesting and well designed from a narrative/novelty/history ...

Re: Need challenging BA2 campaign advise please
Thanks for further input. Yes generally I go for the achievements. Can't remember how well I did on those for the pocket. Hmm... Kharkov easier.. ack!
Presumably they will make Kursk tough for the Germans!

Need challenging BA2 campaign advise please
So I like the latest engine. However while I found BA campaigns generally quite challenging (for example the Arnhem campaign defeated me) I generally found the Barbarossa campaign very easy. If I was careful and went slowly I finished with plenty of time and no real threat of a loss. Not even on the...

Versus Panzer Corps
Being a fan of Panzer Corps (Panzer General), why might I want to play Frontline instead? They appear pretty similar in spirit at first glance. I am indifferent to platform, so please speak to differences in gameplay. Thank you.

Length of a (PBEM) turn
How long would you estimate a turn takes to do in CEAW... if convenient please estimate time early war versus late war (when many countries and units involved). I am trying to see if I can afford the time investment
Thank you
Luke

Re: AI and 3.0
Thanks for such a quick reply. Could I learn 3.0 via AI play or should one really learn via PBEM?

AI and 3.0
I played the old v1.0 with it's very weak AI. has this changed? Thinking of as a prelude to any pbem. Finally anyone who has played the SC series care to compare?
Thanks,
Luke
