Firing range will not be affected by local defense AI settings, it's determined by the unit's stats only (provided it can see a target)

Arty on local defense may try to move a bit which can be wanted or not depending on what you intend/prefer :)
Very helpful. Thank you.

Re: AI Types - What are the differences

Got it...but here's another question regarding Artillery and AA.... Will artillery be limited to firing as far as the Local Defense defines? If I assign an artillery piece to Local Defense (5), will it only fire 5 hexes? I have been using all artillery on Local Defense (8) and things seem ok, but I ...

Re: AI Types - What are the differences

Thanks.

Have garrison units across a front with tanks and light armor behind them that I want to use as local counter-attacks. Sounds like Local Defense (5) is the way to go.

Also - artillery and AA - what do you recommend as a setting? Static or local defense?

1.Select the mines (No Man's Land faction)
2.Choose the faction (ex Germany)
3.Place the German mines (left-click)
Thanks!

Have a scenario with enemy AI minefields, but didn't know the procedure - the result was enemy running into their "own" minefields.

AI Types - What are the differences

Mainly the differences between Local Defense and Static Defense? Static Defense is a plain setting, whereas Local Defense has a # Hex Value that can be assigned - but what are the differences in this type of behavior? Also - How does Search and Destroy work? I had units assigned to search and destro...

Select the mine then change to the faction you want to be assigned.
How do you change the faction?

Re: Where are the mines?

Hate to necro an old thread, but is there any way to assign mines to a faction instead of being "No Man's Land"?

I've cracked open a few scenarios and see that there is a way, and mines can be assigned a side.

[Question] Restricting Units

Building a coop scenario based on historical post-1945 campaign.

Would like to prevent the players from buying some of the wonky units like T-28 and other experimental stuff.

Is there any way to exclude units for purchase?

Another WW2 Title?

It's getting old. When will this game explore more modern settings? There are so many great battles to chose from that are post-WW2, instead of the same old campaigns that have been done over and over in both PzC1 and OOB. In fact, one of my favorite scenarios from PzC 1 is the fictional Western vs ...

Thank You

Just wanted to say a quick Thank You to the developers of BA2 - Still one my favorite tactical turn based shooters. I've racked up 150 hours (and still going) on Steam playing the various campaigns and lots of cooperative multiplayer. I just started another play-through of the German Kursk operation...

Re: Why is there no EOD in the game? HUGE MISSED OPPORTUNITY

Okay, and the Engineer (Buffalo) unit was used for clearly IEDs during a Route Clearance if EOD was not available. Never would it be used for recovery of down vehicles. Yall need the HEMTT "Hemmitt" I agree that the Buffalo wasn't the best vehicle to represent a vertical engineering unit. The Husky...

Re: Interface issues/suggestions

Animations take a long time to finish, which is okay, but there should be an option to not have them at all or at least seriously sped up. Similar to the Civilization games. I agree with this. Some of the animations are a big long-winded, particularly the helicopter. Order of Battle does it nicely ...

Re: Status of PC Game

My opinion: considering the new engine used for Sanctus Reach, considering the ( ithink ) incoming new game for ancient or middleage battles; i would really suggest Slitherine to produce a new Battle Academy with the new engine with all the army lists from west to east and africa with skirmishes an...

Re: Slogkrieg

I don't think anybody (in this thread) is claiming that it is too difficult. What they are claiming is that it just isn't fun or innovative. I have been saying this since the first iteration of OOB. The scenarios just aren't fun or challenging. This Steam review (not mine) sums it up perfectly If f...

Re: Dunkirk

from the descriptions provided here I conclude that most of the problems arise from ignorance of the basic rules of tactics which leads to failure and frustration. I don't understand why the primary objective is kill X French units? That wasn't the historical objective of the operation. If t...
