Re: Units You Never Buy

In retrospect I take back what I said about engineers. Not having them when you need them (mines, bunkers, etc) can bring your advance to a screeching halt. I stand by the rest however. I think Commandos have to be rethought, though perhaps at the risk of making them OP (maybe make them very expensi...

True!...True!: https://militaryhistorynow.com/2017/09/12/tank-busting-blowing-up-the-myth-of-the-mighty-m4-sherman/ The doom and gloom of that article is quite odd. Despite being inferior in a straight-up fight with a Panther, the Sherman was nevertheless a safer tank to crew. Shermans were much ea...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #8

What was being discussed regarding "5 Shermans to take out a single Panther" ...was indeed on the 'Tactical-Scale', not the actual 'Game' or 'Operational-Scale'. In 'Reality' on the 'Tactical-Scale'...it did really take at least 5-6 Sherman-Tanks to take out a Single-Panther. Do a 'Google-Search' o...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #8

I'm sorry what exactly is even being debated anymore? Since tactical considerations that actually matter in tank-on-tank combat can't be replicated in a game like this, you have to generalize and basically make up arbitrary statistical differences for tank models based on whatever criteria you want,...

Re: Gameplay advice sought for Coral Sea

In question order: 1. You can't really, you have to pick. If you don't move the fleet and let the sub come to you, this allows you to SONAR ping every turn. If you move all the time, then you can't ping, but on the other hand, given that subs are quite slow, it won't be able to keep up with you anyw...

Re: Mistakes vere made, mein Fuhrer - Endsieg Review and Discuss

Good catch. Personally I'd rather not give this powerful unit for free at all - but the help text of the spec says clearly it adds one, so a free one looks clearly intended. I'll add that to bugtracker tommorrow. Ok I'd really like to know: You say you wouldn't make it free, yet whoever made the sp...

Re: A Noob vs Japan

I also enjoy reading your AARs- thank you TFC. With WiFi on the last link to my PC, I frequently have difficulty downloading the enormous post. If others report a similar issue, it might be nice to break down future AARs. Perhaps 1 scenario per post? It already is. I have so many images because I s...

Re: FUTURE of ORDER OF BATTLE

Given the Nazis have 5 campaigns to their name and are more logically constructed (you have the main land war from Blitzkrieg to Panzerkrieg to Ensieg, then a dedicated campaign for the navy, and one for the more isolated African theatre) I think in that light the Pacific campaigns need a restructur...

Re: Mistakes vere made, mein Fuhrer - Endsieg Review and Discuss

I don't remember anyone specifically saying he wants to have less CP to spend. As per usual if there's anyone I miss here, feel free to correct me. I talked about it, but it was only one of the options in the discussion: "what to do to make the game still attractive for veteran players?" :) Well I ...

Re: A Noob vs Japan

Suppose I should specify that I didn't continue this because admittedly I decided to make this AAR well after playing this campaign and since then a few patches had happened and....well, several of my replays got pretty glitched up. I have learned my lesson however; the next time I try to make an AA...

Re: Advanced Aeronautics

Waste of points as Germany because you don't need it. Waste of points as Britain because the Meteor isn't in the game for some bizarre reason. Description as USA or Japan is faulty because it's not that you get them earlier, but that you can't get them at all if you don't have it. Does nobody check ...

Re: Units You Never Buy

@Mojko I've always liked PG3 and I've always considered critics of this game to be unfair :D @TheFilthyCasual Therefore, I think that it's necessary to redesign the game. You change the plane to one which has better statistics because devs impose such a kind of "arms race" through persistent and pr...

Re: Units You Never Buy

I'm glad that you decided to join this forum. Most of the people here are focused only on new unit's models, searching for the most powerful core etc. ... I miss the voices emphasizing the creation of an operational simulator but not an arcade turn-based strategy ... I think a historically a...

Re: Units You Never Buy

I play for the score and I view unit losses as negative points. Standard replacements are quite cheap and you don't necessarily need to fully replenish auxiliary units to have them survive. Also, 50% of RPs spent on an auxiliary unit will get refunded after the battle. I created this score system t...

Re: Units You Never Buy

I see. I think it's fine to have different play preferences  . I personally play based on the score. The score is the remaining RPs at the end of the campaign. I don't mind treating certain units as meat shields if the situation requires it, however, I do care about the survival of the units,...

Re: Units You Never Buy

1 - Engineers I completely disagree with you on this one. I don't think you understand how this unit is supposed to be used if you're complaining about not dealing enough damage with this unit. Engineers are not supposed to deal damage most of the time. Their strong points are: - high shock and ass...

Units You Never Buy

I find many units are simply too specialized to be generally useful and thus not worth the resource investment. For example, I personally avoid using 1. Engineers; this one might be controversial. Yes, I know they have a multitude of uses, but the problem is that they suck at actual combat against o...

Re: No Rhyme/Reason to Elite Replacements???

I always use Elite repair personally. It leaves me very short of RPs most of the time but the poor enemy units just don't stand a chance by the end when they're facing all 5 star units. 5 star heavy tanks might as well be made of Titanium.

What is the highest amount of damage a unit can inflict in a single attack?

This question popped into my head yesterday when I saw this: https://i.imgur.com/Dk5m7AE.jpg This Japanese tank unit lost 9/10 hit points in a single hit from my Churchill, a damage number so rare I couldn't even remember if I'd seen it before. Normally it can't do that, but I had the tank commander...
