Re: FoG II on Wine for Mac OS X?

All, I am running a Windows 7 Virtual PC on VMware Fusion on my MacBook Pro. (13 in, late 2011 model) I am having difficulties with my setup -- so if you're doing good with Parallels or Wine I don't recommend changing to VMware Fusion. I've got a pretty stout machine with 8 Gig Ram and 2.8 gig cores...

Re: Slope Colors

Patrick,

Thanks for the reply. I'll put together a PM later today when I get the time.

It's just the slopes that look odd -- but they are pretty garish. You might want to put on eclipse sun glasses before looking at it.

Re: Slope Colors

Richard,

I, too, am on a PC emulator for Mac. (VM Ware Fusion). This is the only Slitherine/Matrix game I've had any issues with.

Is there a game-specific file we can edit to experiement with color options?

Slope Colors

Is it just my computer or are slopes colored blue? I was just playing my first game and thought all these streams were oddly shaped and tried to avoid them. As I was maneuvering around them, I happened to put my cursor over one and realized it was a slope. Thanks to my maneuvers, I had just given th...

Re: Play on XP

I'm happy on W7 and all my Slitherine games run just fine on it.

I have an unusual setup, too. A MacBook Pro running VM Ware to support a Windows virtual machine. Works great, mostly.

Flanking Forces

Both Pike & Shot and SJ have flanking forces. I'm not that keen on how they were implemented as arbitrary implementation by the game system. I think flanking forces would be great in FoG II -- but only if a player elects to use a flanking force. Ideally, the play would choose to do a flank march...

That could still work for tournament play with players announcing their armies before the match. The challenger just sets it up to pair with his opponent's chosen army...

Army Pairings

Will open-ended army pairings be allowed in FoG II? (As in table-top FoG and FoG digital.) I think this is desirable and makes tournament organization easier. One of the challenges to organizing Pike and Shot tournaments was that it limits free pairings of armies. That forced "two-game matches&...

Re: I love P&S engine

I too love the P&S engine. I had my doubts about squares instead of hexes -- but the squares have a better "table top" feel. I have often wished the P&S engine had been done for Field of Glory. Many complain about the pursuit rules and the loss of control in the game. I think it is...

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2

Shawkhan2, I've had offline conversations with the person who is planning to run Caracole III. He will be changing some things that may address this better than I have in the Caracoles I ran. To be honest, I never expected to have so many people drop out of play or dawdle -- but that seems to be wha...

Vadim,

Happy to play another game and seek revenge. But it will unlikely be done in time to score as a Caracole II game.

Just saying

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2

TGM,

I'm going to hold to the cutoff date.

Partly because I have some personal and family activities coming up that I need to focus on.

Also to clear the decks for a Caracole III.

Best regards,

Re: Caracole II -- Phase 2

All, Just a reminder that you have about 48 HOURS left to complete games, report results, and correct scores. Monday morning, Texas time, I will close scoring and adjudicate final scores and positions. BTW. Someone has indicated to me an interest in running Caracole III. I'm not going to out him, in...
