Re: I've struggled hard to like this game...

I do not like the unpredictability of the evade and the removal of the option to order a unit to hold. I think Generals should be able to order a unit to hold which would slightly increase the chance of them not evading or order them to evade which would increase the likelyhood of them evading. Tha...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

And saying that a 1 in 86 chance event is ruining a significant number of games or is causing skill vs luck to be out of whack....is disingenuous imo. 1/86 chance of happening for 1 particular unit on one particular turn. If you take into account number of units/turns that probability goes way up e...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Do you imply your opponent will be just waiting for you to do all those adjustments without even attempting to capitalize on his advantage ? To me it sounds that your advise is to outplay opponent if he has wider formation. If it always can be done why not to just double-down on depth ? Why formati...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

In those cases the appropriate response is to shift quickly to a wedge like formation with your best units and blow the center open while delaying action on the flanks by staggering both flanks backwards and increasing the distance traveled before you can be enveloped. Another option is to rapidly ...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Also, you cannot maintain a solid reserve if your opponent is throwing his whole army at you from the outset. Keeping a reserve in those situations means that you will be facing a number of 2 v 1 melees at the start which means that you are likely to lose the game. Hang on, are the matches in A div...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I think it is exactly this point where we keep talking past each other. I understand the frustration of random catastrophic rolls. But I feel that building strategies that are resilliant to rare mishaps is a skill (ie the maintenance of a solid reserve). Learning tactics to minimize the number of C...

Re: Unit Costing Anomalies

What about scythed chariots. They are so cost ineffective and difficult to use so no one takes them (at least in competitive battles). I know there was discussion somewhere about it already but I did not get why you guys want to have unit in game which is only used in preset historical battles. Why...

Re: Offensive Spearmen vs Impact Foot

Geffalrus, WHen you compare thureos vs scutarii you should remember that scutarii is juicy target for mounted while thureos can be used to block shock cav, chariotts and elephants. So yes I would bet on scutarri vs thureos (at least they have a chance to break them quickly) but it comes with extra h...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

Conclusions: One thing I worry about any changes relating to these issues is that they will further exacerbate the tourney meta towards Medium foot armies and the Carthaginians. According to my suggestion effect would be actually opposite since only double-drops that do not make sense would be remo...

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

I am relatively new to FoG2 but i will try to make my input on luck in FoG2 1) Cohesion double-drops: I can see how double-drops may have happened in real warfare. But i think they should be limited so certain type of units/engagements. I can see warband being on both sides of dounle-drop during imp...
