Re: problem with resolution

Never mind, I figured out it was the DPI thing (I normally have mine set to 200) Setting it to 100 fixed the problem with CTGW. A real nuisance to have to reset that each time I play, though, and it makes toggling between CGTW and other apps impossible, since the 100 setting is way too small for me....

problem with resolution

Hello again! I've just reinstalled the game (after a lengthy break) on a new PC. The main menu screen displays correctly, but the actual game screen does not. I am running Win 8.1 and my monitor's native resolution is 2560x1440. No matter what resolution I set in the game options, if I choose "full ...

Re: Commander: The Great War 1.4.0 Public Beta

Where do I find them? If I go to the matrixgames page in the first post in this thread, the file there doesn't work for me either.

Re: Commander: The Great War 1.4.0 Public Beta

I get an error message when trying to install it - "ctgw.exe - unknown version"
I have not done anything to the game files since the 1.3 official update :)

Re: fight after 1945

So technically it could still go on until December. ;) Sometimes that would be just enough to finish.

Re: fight after 1945

Wasn't the "end in 1945" option part of the vanilla game? if so, permissions have nothing to do with it, right?

Yes, things get very unrealistic quickly if you run out of tech, but - it's just a game ;)

Re: fight after 1945

There's a technical reason why it was removed, something about the data array, if I remember correctly. Stauffenberg or someone else who knows might explain or cite the thread where this was mentioned before. When I first saw the change I wasn't very happy either. Actually, I'm still not happy. ;) B...

Re: too much free upkeep in default 1.40?

Maybe that could be fixed by lowering per-unit maintenance costs rather than setting an artificial limit? Or maybe different countries could be given different limits?

too much free upkeep in default 1.40?

FreeUpkeep = 60 To me it seems too much, when most of the countries are paying no upkeep costs (or so I found playing the Entente in 1914). OK, maybe the previous level was low, but how about setting it at (say) 30? What does everyone else think? IMO upkeep is one of those things where CTGW is an im...

Bugs in 1.40

Two things I've noticed so far:

1. When disbanding a unit (such as a British or Russian garrison) you get the warning message about battleships and morale

2. The message says the Canadian unit appears in the UK, but it appears in Canada (1914 scenario)

Re: Commander: The Great War 1.4.0 Public Beta

Can this be installed directly over the release version (1.12)? If not, what other updates should be installed first?

3.0 also works. So never mind. If it ain't broke don't fix it - I wasn't planning to play the vanilla game anyway :)

Odder still - if I DO install GS 2.0, it works. Will try with 3.0 and see what happens...

Re: GS v3.00 news

When the full (not update) installer is released, will it be possible to access it using an existing serial number? That would solve a lot of headaches :)
