Re: HYW French campaign opening battle
This first battle 'reenacts' the battle of Saint-Omer in 1340 where 3000 French faced 11000-16000 Anglo-Flemish (according to wiki). As others did, I found it difficult to win. But also very fun to play. (This battle was discussed in a thread called '100 YW French Campaign' on the 3rd DLC closed bet...

Re: Deployment Options
But we have, quand même, detached musketeers and commanded shots that are meant to have been detached from P&S just before the combat, not to mention 500 musketeer MF units. Thus modding lists with such additional shooting units is not very difficile.

Re: 18th Century mod - Frederick the Great's battles
Also some elements of reaction other than reaction fire (still performed by the inactive player) provided by the GMT rules could be food for thought, such as withdraw or interception (p. 14-16), if and only if the inactive player were able to choose whether or not to trigger the reaction : https://g...

Re: 18th Century mod - Frederick the Great's battles
btw GMT Musket & Pike series suggests a nice rule for Cavalry Ammunition Supply (p. 19, 10.7) : Cavalry went into battle with their pistols (and sometimes carbines) already loaded. Cavalry units have two “shots” before their pre-loaded weapons are expended. When a Cavalry unit fires, mark it wit...

Re: errors in rise of the swiss campaign
You’re definitely right to read Oman — it is very well written, pleasant to read, absorbing — as long as you are aware that it is not the most accurate reading on the subject, that it is outdated (1), so you can’t ask FoG2 to stick to it (agree with it). Good reading. Have fun with the game. ___ (1)...

Re: errors in rise of the swiss campaign
I respectfully disagree with you about Oman. His books were written in the late nineteenth century and and early twentieth century, but that does not mean they were not accurate. In fact, I find Oman to be more convincing than more modern sources. The Historical science makes progress by integratin...

Re: What is next for Field of Glory?
Maybe the use of one-piece 3D models doesn't necessarily mean that the evolution of state, losses and formation of the units couldn't be shown during a battle. There are already cases of several models for one unit in the FoG series (e.g. a unit can be either mounted or dismounted). With this script...

Re: What is next for Field of Glory?
Not all the current videogames follow the path of realism (as the FoG series did). Quite a few choose a more simplified|abstract|lowpoly but still nice way to represent reality, such as Lonely Mountains: Downhill or art of rally that are both indie games. So maybe the unanimated one-piece 3D models ...

Re: What is next for Field of Glory?
FoG2 simply is not designed with the highly mobile field artillery, much less horse artillery, in mind. Maybe this can be coded into the system, but I just don't know. Pike and Shot, the old version of FoG2 set during the Renaissance and the 17th century and made by the same developers has already ...

No, that wasn't what I meant. But who knows ?

Re: What is next for Field of Glory?
My understanding is that FOG and FOG2 are cyber versions of table top games so I'm wondering what time period did the tabletop extend to? Will we be seeing FOG2 games involving gunpowder. For example the American revolution where the forces were relatively small compared to the American Civil War o...
