Re: Weird pursuit?

Thanks for the reply and clarification.
I guess it just didn't want to stop pursuing because it ending up leaving the map. It was also the longest pursuit I had seen to date, so thought it may have been bugged.

Weird pursuit?

Pursuit.jpg It's the first time I've ever seen this happen. The cavalry was in contact after the first pursuit, but after that it stopped one away. I thought that would be the end of the pursuit, but it kept going causing no casualties, I guess because it wasn't in contact. This is the 5th or 6th p...

Re: The Random Map Generator . . .

I don't believe you are asking for the centre to be completely clear, but if you limit the amount of terrain able to go near the centre, then that could be the effect. Well, I am not sure about that. I think it would reduce the amount of terrain going into the very central area a bit in some maps, ...

TLDR is that your base assumption that HF vs MF is equal based on rough vs open is incorrect.

I'm sorry, where did I make this assumption? The MF discussion is going on elsewhere, and I'm not sure anyone has made that argument there either.

I don't believe you are asking for the centre to be completely clear, but if you limit the amount of terrain able to go near the centre, then that could be the effect. For pot luck terrain I believe these are the percentages for each map type: Agricultural 60%, Hilly 20%, Wooded 10%, Mountainous 10%...

Re: The Random Map Generator . . .

I think it was mentioned in another thread somewhere that armies would try and choose where to fight. Who's to say it isn't the "medium" army doing the choosing. One example is the Battle of Sulcoit in 968, between Brian Boru and the Vikings of Limerick. The Irish were waiting for the Vikings to com...

Result - Div 2 game 21

Mairtin (Median 836BC) defeated rs2excelsior (Avar 632AD) 58-33

My opponent played well, but outnumbering him 3-1, and more than a few lucky holds from my fragmented units, letting me bring in help, were the deciding factor.

Re: Blocked Break Offs

In other wargames cohesion loss from blocked fallback has caused far cheesier exploits than what the system currently produces. People would be running light units to stand in the enemy's rear to cause fast cohesion losses. Except that what I am suggesting is that the blocked troops remain as curre...

Re: Cav ZoC/AP Mod Testing Workshop

People seem to want to treat mediums as if they were mobs. In the manual: pp.102-3 Heavy Foot, Medium Foot and Warriors are all capable of repelling mounted charges in open terrain when they are steady, but will be at risk if disrupted. p.119 Medium Foot Foot troops who fight in close formation, but...

Re: Blocked Break Offs

Blocking someones retreat should be a legitimate tactic, but it should come at a cost if you are just throwing troops in the way. If you are facing the blocked troops then that's fine, you're lining up a charge or something similar. If a rear corner of the blocking troops is contacted though, then a...

Was 53 all before one of my units decided to rally as night fell. If night hadn't come then I surely would have lost to the remaining zealots and pikes. A hard fight, thanks for the game.
