Go back to dev diary 1 and see how dreadful the camera angle was.
No I won't.

Now kindly stop discussing lightning angles with me or I shall be forced to ignore you. I see now what Rudankort meant.

Re: People's General, Space General etc

Just wanted to say I found this old thread today, on the same day I heard there's about to be a Fantasy General II :)

Re: Lake Balaton

Per Wikipedia the Germans actually should have more armor than the Russians. (Before the counter-attack of course)

The Soviets used well-entrenched infantry in multiple lines, and also artillery used as tank traps.

(Not that I want more frustrating slogs of scenarios...)

Re: AI and scripting in Panzer Corps 2

Please note: My main hope for this thread is for the devs to detail their plans for the PC2 computer opponent as well as the game's support for script-writing scenario creators :)

In short: will it be much the same or radically different 8)

Re: AI and scripting in Panzer Corps 2

Now then, what would be amazing is: a list of AI behaviors that is up for fixing/improvement as well as things that won't be changed. There are several prior threads on the AI (here's just one: http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33865 ), but nothing that I can find to indicate the scope...

AI and scripting in Panzer Corps 2

First off, let me thank you for an amazing game (series). That said, using the editor to write and change scripts is a huge pain in the rear. Every little change requires you to open and close a myriad of menu options. Is there any chance the "scripts" tab of the editor could be replaced/supplanted ...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #9

I'm not going to argue with you any more about it, because it is clearly useless. I will only point out to what I actually said on this subject, and leave it to other people reading this topic to decide if your interpretation of my words is correct or not. I did not change my opinion since then. If...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #9

Churchill had a way of speaking in absolutes that glosses over a lot of the nuance. US involvement no doubt was a huge relief to him, but even without that all scenarios are bad for Germany. Germany vs. British Empire Alone (no Russian invasion): This scenario is the most favorable to Germany, but ...

Re: How to use 8.8cm FlaK 36 to best effect?

I like to pair the (towed) 88 with a self-propelled AA unit. This way you can drive up to the front and protect it (in its truck) using the SPAD. If enemy air comes a'sniffin, the pair can often shoot it down completely without you having to divert your own fighters.

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #9

Yes, if there's one single defining moment at which Germany lost the war, it must surely be when Hitler brought the full wrath of Uncle Sam on his head- WIKI- "On 11 December 1941, four days after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Nazi Germany declared war against the United States " Churchill w...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #9

The fun factor in the Panzer General series and Panzer Corps lies in their simplicity. They were never intended to be realistic or historically accurate, so there is no point in worrying too much about that aspect of the game. This. So very much this. I honestly think that the second Slitherine sta...

Re: Air units in PC2

Thank you Rudankort! Yes, you are now explaining what I am after. I know this, maybe you are only clarifying for the other readers? I am asking what if any development is made to improve and enrichen this aspect of the game, specifically because from history it seemed more than "best fighter" had it...

Re: Air units in PC2

PG, PzC1 as well as PzC2 do not have a concept where quantity counts as quality. Attack and defense values are absolute numbers so higher is always better. Lesser equipment in ground war could survive but only if you were nursing it and keeping it out of main front line. Ground war is richer becaus...

Re: Air units in PC2

Is it just me? I don't really understand if my question has been addressed? Okay there is new "base" mechanism so planes don't hang frozen in the sky. But does this discuss my question? What I was wondering about was if air combat will remain tied to one and only one "dimension" as in PC1 (and the P...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #8

Some players want a Pacific Corps game inside Panzer Corps 2. I trust and hope that the devs ignore this. You get a much better result with theatre-specific games - no marine landing or tropical fever special rules cluttering up a tank-inf-arty game and no mass tank battle rules (or whatever) clutte...

Air units in PC2

When I read about various fighters and bombers in Wikipedia, it often strikes me how they are described as useful (for various purposes), yet in the Panzer Corps game, they are all but useless. Put otherwise, in the context of a PC scenario, air units other than "the best" are often - not merely poo...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #8

Even something "obvious" as making enemy artillery actually start shooting (so the entrenchment levels drop) might have unforeseen - and unwanted - side effects. Remember you are among the top %1 players who know every trick in the book. But the game must work for the average player. An AI tweak tha...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #8

We can discuss realism all day, as long as we always remember what makes the Panzer General and Corps a success: The fact they allow you to unrealistically build hero units that you can keep throughout a campaign. Everything else must be subordinate to this. Detailed supply? Better AI? Tweaked equip...
