Re: Off Topic: German strategic aims in 1941

You make a good point, and yes, it is debatable since we can never really know the answers to any of these "what ifs." However, I disagree with your assessment of the level of loyalty of the average Soviet to the regime. Not from the readings I can remember back in my college days. Universities (in...

Re: Off Topic: German strategic aims in 1941

You have to remember how much of a major a**hole Stalin was and its debatable whether who was worse, him or Hitler. Most of the people hated him. When the Germans first entered the USSR they welcomed them as liberators, especially in Ukraine. Their regime was as unstable if not more so than that of...

Re: Off Topic: German strategic aims in 1941

If the latter, then we need to go back to Clausewitz who argued that to defeat your enemy you needed to identify their 'Centre of Gravity' (CoG) and then devote all of your resources to its destruction. This CoG may be the enemy's capital, their army, an ally, etc. I think where both Napoleon and H...

Re: Dunkirk and Valkenburg Raid in AO 1940

I'm good with quiet acceptance (I prefer loud acceptance like with regards to the CP system and people always wanting more more MORE from it heheh), but I want to make sure these sorts of designs are a good direction to continue to grow the game into. There is the obvious elephant in the room of Cr...

Re: Dunkirk and Valkenburg Raid in AO 1940

Hrrngh, I dunno, I guess what I'm trying to gripe about is 'turn key' scenarios, where the only path to victory is to do the thing that the game says to do, with the units it gives you to do it. It feels vaguely, I dunno, tutorial-esque? Like, I'm going to use the Falks I just trained up to take th...

Uhm...deployment works the same way for all scenarios. What explanation were you looking for in this one?

I dont see any yellow deployment hexes....what do I have to do to get them to appear?
Most likely your army is too big, deployment hexes should appear when you decrease the number of units so that you're not over the allotted slots.

Re: The Blucher

When I saw the choice between operations in NL, requiring heavy airborne forces, or BE, requiring some airborne and heavy armor, I went with Belgium. Three airbone was barely enough to secure Eben-Emael before my armor was able to relieve them. I doubt I would have done well in the Netherlands. I p...

Re: Newbie Getting TRASHED!!

My tip would be to encircle the enemy as often as possible. The general idea is to encircle some units, suppress them, finish them off, encircle some more units...and so on. Situations where the enemy can recover after your attack should generally be avoided, unless you're doing a preemptive strike....

Re: Commendation Points (CP)

BTW - this highlights what I see as one of the few FUNDAMENTAL problems with PC2. I don't see any point (other than flavor) to captured equipment. Experience (and the new medals) are simply too valuable to be bothered with a unit that you won't be able to keep repaired. What do you mean? Captured e...

Re: Finland without Finnish?!?

I'm a fan of Crusader Kings 2 , and that is the default complaint about Crusader Kings 2 . Never mind that the game came out 13 years ago ( ? ) , and all that DLC represents 13 years of effort , 13 years of Paradox supporting their game. !3 years of Paradox giving the games fans what they ask...

Re: Aircraft flying range

Should this be calculated from the airfield they are based on, instead of the hex they are based on? Seems very annoying when auto return to base moves a low speed aircraft to the opposite side of the airfield it is positioned on not being able to air strike something it attacked on the previous tu...

Re: Campaign Path Branches: Like or dislike?

It's probably going to need a full on campaign split like Grand Campaign East and West to be properly done justice. Can you make them into completely separate campaigns? In other words, 1941 West is one campaign, 1941 East is another, 1942 West is the third, 1942 East is the fourth, etc. This way p...

Re: Campaign Path Branches: Like or dislike?

With all of the discussion regarding current and future DLC/campaign design, I was curious what most of you think about one aspect. Do you like it when there is a branch in the campaign? If yes, always, or only in certain circumstances? I don't like it, but I know how to change campaign script to g...

Re: Finished AO 1939

As someone who completed both chapters, I would be curious to hear your thoughts on difficulty. Especially Spanish difficulty, 1939 reduced difficulty, and what direction you think the future should go. Right now, I'm mostly of the mind that making the content as accessible as possible is the best ...

Re: DLC Roadmap?

The "Italians" had a good number of troops in Russia [Operation Barbarossa]… so what historically happened to them???. If they continued after Italy surrendered to the Allies in 1943... then why could you not maintain a separate "Italian" core until at least they historically were no longer a funct...

Re: Spanish civil war: Heavy guns ?

The 203mm you get in scenarios 1+2 is WW2 vintage. 13 of them actually existed at the time of SCW...and we stole them all! *cue evil laughter* The same applies to the 122mm and 152mm guns - the game designers have mixed up some modernized WW1 122/152 guns with much more modern WW2 guns... Yeah, tho...

Re: Spanish civil war: Heavy guns ?

Hello, playing on the default difficulty setting, I am in the middle of the Ebro defence, overpowered by the heavy 152 mm of the republicans. I managed to capture enough to field one of these, but I wish that the Condor legion had the foresight to have brought something heavier than the 105 mm... I...

Ok thanks for that info - not as good as being able to attack a tank or a fort with a half dozen Stukas like in OoB or Blitzkrieg however
Half a dozen Stukas would be difficult to field anyway, they are not exactly cheap and require fighters to babysit them.
