Many happy returns Slitherine. Many thanks for the Field of Glory games and Pike & Shot Campaigns in particular.

Me too.

I would also like a game for the Napoleonic period.

Re: Auto Save

Would it be possible to add an optional auto save function to the game in future? It would probably be easier than saving my game manually after nearly every turn.

Auto Save

Is there an auto save feature for scenarios in this game? I was playing an exciting scenario when my computer crashed. I have an old PC which crashes every now and then. When I restarted my computer and charged up Pike & Shot I could not find an auto saved version of my last game.

Re: pike joke ???

England 1642 A Royalist pikeman was staggering home with a bottle of beer in his snap sack when he slipped and fell heavily. Struggling to his feet, he felt something wet running down his leg. "Please Lord," he implored, "let it be blood!!" A Royalist pikeman stumbles up to the only other drinker in...

Thanks Lysimachos. I've enjoyed playing your scenarios. Interesting armies. Nice maps.

Re: Scenario Name

I've just found that you can edit 'fogsg' files with a free Microsoft editor called XML Notepad 2007. So you can change the scenario name using that - by renaming it at the top of the 'fogsg' files.

Re: Scenario Name

Thanks for your rapid reply. Unfortunately I tried to do that the other day. The scenario name changed in the Custom Game menu - but when I play the scenario I still get the old scenario name (top left corner). When I read the 'scenario0.fogsg' and 'scenario1.fogsg' files they still used the o...

I've just put together a scenario and then realised that I did not like the name I originally gave it. Is it possible to edit the name?

Re: Battle of Civitate 1053 AD

I quite like the crusader-other/crusader-cav-turcopole-a figure for the Papal protected cavalry. Given that the other figures are armoured. I’m not keen on the crusader/crusader-Kn-knight-11-12c-a general model. It includes a long-haired sack-clothed pilgrim who looks like he could only be from the ...

Re: Battle of Civitate 1053 AD

You can edit the 'Battlegroup Properties' of whatever figure you want to use for your Papal Knights. If you use a figure which has its default 'Unit Type' as 'Cavalry' you can change it to 'Knights.' Then that unit will function as knights in the game. Surely?

Re: Battle of Civitate 1053 AD

I haven't suggested that you designate the Papal knights as cavalry rather than knights. I only suggested a change in the figurine used.

Re: Battle of Civitate 1053 AD

My suggestion was only cosmetic. I was thinking about the appearance of the figures - rather than there combat stats/abilities. So you could have Papal Knights that looked Byzantine.

The problem with historical battles is that they were often unbalanced one way or another. :)

Re: Battle of Civitate 1053 AD

Thanks for your hard work ZeaBed. I've just looked at the latest version of your scenario. Maybe you could think about using different figures for the cavalry in the Papal army. Italian warriors at that time often used Byzantine style armour with kite shields. So I think the following figures would ...

Re: Scenarios

Hi Shunwick, you can play all the scenarios in the Scenario Design forum. It does not matter which expansions you have - so you can play a wide range of periods. When you download the scenarios they'll be listed under 'Custom Game' rather than 'Historical Game' on the scenario selection menu. Regard...
