Re: FOG software help!!!!

There is Battle Chronicler, which is free software for the PC. I've downloaded it but I haven't used it myself yet.

Moving as a Division

Which of the following can move as a division, assuming they are lined up in edge to edge contact with no gaps between the BGs :
1) Three kiels.
2) Two Kiels with a BG of arquebusiers between them.
3) Two BGs of arquebusiers with a Kiel between them ?

Obstacles

An obstacle is treated in the same way as Field Fortifications. Does this mean that an obstacle has a front and back ?

More stuff now listed, including more vikings, a few lots of Greeks, some baggage / camps and other odd bits and pieces.

15mm ancients & medieval clearout (UK ebay auctions)

I'm selling off some 15mm ancients & medieval figures that are surplus to requirements - Republican Romans, Vikings, Medieval Islamic :

Do Commanders block Artillery shooting ?

Simple question - do Commanders block LOS for Artillery, or can they be shot through in the same way as LF ?

Re: Kiel

Another similar question : when a Kiel is hit in the flank, bases turn per the diagram on page 81. Is it no longer a Kiel as it doesn't have two files of at least four bases ? Also on the diagram on pg 81, could the Swiss expand one or both of the HW bases from the left file to overlap the Gendarmes...

Re: rant

Not much of a rant but I don't see any cause for a rant anyway - as far as I've seen, all of his many questions have been answered with patience and tolerance. Much more so than deserved in many cases, as most of the questions he has asked could be answered by simply reading the rules. Few if any we...

The LH will be on even POA.

MF bow would be good vs elephants. Even better with front rank Lt Spear.

hannibal wrote:I would have liked to see LF (edit - meaning LH) movement reduced to 6MU - so that there is an outside chance of them being caught by Cav (on a 6:1).
Cavalry can catch LH with movement rates as is, and not only on a 6:1 (assuming within 1 MU to start with).

Re: Are Elephants viable in V2?

Crikey that is good going from the perspective of one of the "less skilled players" who has won twice in about a dozen outings with CI's. This was under V1 presumably. I think Classical Indian are one of the biggest winners from the changes to V2, so I think you will find their performanc...

Re: re-rolls?

but you still miss i do understand why it says you you cant roll lower than your original Because lets say you do a cohesion test and roll 2 x 2's. This would disrupt you BUT you get to reroll both dice, you get a 5 and a 1 which fails BUT the 1 cannot be worse than a 2 so you've passed on 7. Doesn...

gozerius wrote:A flank charge by light horse into elephants would presumably only involve one base each - one LH with 1 die hitting on 3,4,5,6 and one elephant rolling three dice hitting on 5 or 6.
The elephants will only roll two dice in this case, as they are already Disr.

Re: light cavalry

It is almost always worth doing though. In melee the elephants will be down a POA (so evens vs the LH and the Spearmen will now be at a +). And the Spear BG will now be facing less dice from the elephants, as one base of elephants will turn to fight the LH. It is now very likely that the elephants w...

Re: Torney rules

I think changes to table size, deployment rules, terrain (e.g pre-set terrain) are fine and serve to make the tournament more interesting. I think rules changes and points changes (just because you personally don't like or agree with that particular rule) are not a good idea. People choose to play t...

Re: V2 Interpenetrations - LF evading

If their evade move (normal move + VMD) is enough to contact the second unit then they are able to interpenetrate this unit and they are placed beyond them. So yes, it looks like you did it correctly.

Re: breaking off??

Sometimes you charge without orders and then conform into a position where your a friendly BG stops the break off. Nasty. In which case you're not thinking ahead enough. The move before, you should have thought "if I move my cataphracts there and my opponent reacts, will I end up in a daft pos...
