Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

I still can't get over the fact how crappy the E-50 turned out. As an alternative, I am currently redoing the old gunpoint-3d model, using my preferred method, to see if it at least is an improvement over the pre-existing models.

Re: Big Units Problem

I am doing virtually the same thing. Take the 148x148px part of the main icon that contains the left facing unit and blow it up (nearest neighbor resize) to 256x256px. Then recorded a PhotoShop macro for automation. The good thing is that it incorporates the unit's camo.

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

Would a bigunit icon like this be acceptable? It's hard to get creative when you have a 2D image. I could of course use a scaled down version of the original, but then I would be able to make an SE version, cause I couldn't apply the camo. I have a PhotoShop macro which just churns these out for exi...

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

A foray into the realm of fantasy and very, very wishful thinking: The E-79. It looks very cool though and I solemnly swear that not a single soul will be forced to include it in an equipment file. This one is almost finished. Maybe touching up the barrel. Shrinking, assembly, shadows and mask are l...

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

First draft. I'm going to remove the little machine gun on the side of the turret before I take it any further.

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m

Your Sturmpanzer II improves upon the official icon. It's more detailed, more articulated. Well done!

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

I'm still not happy with the color and will definitely rework it later, but I'm done with the E-50 for the moment. (If I dwell on this too long I will get stuck, frustrated and won't do anything productive at all. Release and revise later is better than not release at all). Efx.pzdat: E50.png (74,-2...

Re: GC Unit Revisions v12 beta1 (May 27, 2014)

Just checked something. Excel to PNotepad saved as UTF-16 Little Endian messes up the umlauts. Well at least it doesn't crash the game. I'll continue to fiddle with this until I get it straight. EDIT: Blank document in PNotepad. Change the properties to UTF-16 Little Endian. Then paste in the excel ...

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

Can you share that DCS skin of the Kätzchen APC you created, please? I'm looking for a vanilla-like grey texture to match German units. That texture color comes very close to vanilla and looks nice. I'd like to give it a try on some units. The main download, in my very first post in this thread, co...

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

I'm an idiot. The semi-translucent white line bordering the model has to be removed before shrinking, or the result will be not very pretty.

Re: [Axis Campaign] Legacy of Versailles-vanilla v0.2 (13/02

I must admit that i have been thinking about the UK44 scenario. It is truly a huge map with plenty of turns. What i didn't think of at that time, is to present the player with the option to bypass this titan scenario. I completely understand that not everyone is so keen to play UK44 for the reasons...

Re: GC Unit Revisions v12 beta1 (May 27, 2014)

Thankworthy we will have a holiday tomorrow here in Germany, and as the weather is terrible, I will have enough time to spend to try it out as described. Lots of thanks in advance! And of course I will have a closer look on Your "fun mod" :-) As I am a westerly situated Nachbar of yours, I'll share...

Re: GC Unit Revisions v12 beta1 (May 27, 2014)

I just rigged up a proof of concept. Saves just fine... EXCEPT the bloody text encoding, which crashes PzC. VBA is so mindbogglingly primitive that I see no quick way of rectifying this. So, for the moment, nevermind. :( I may have a way around this, but it involves some effort for the user. First c...

1.) GREAT 2.) THANKS 3.) ...has anybody an idea how to merge this changes with my very personal equip-file - without doing all per hand?! I would know how to automize it in excel, but I never had success in saving the equip-file from excel, so I am still using "good old" notepad :-( Can you post th...

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

Hmm. My new version (with some contrast to emphasize the turret) looks ugly beyond belief in game. Almost like the unit is embossed on the background. Here: e50_ugly.jpg E75s provide for comparison. I'll go back to my too bland E50 and will have to figure out a way to make the turret stand out more....

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

The left one has a problem with its turret. It almost looks welded fixed onto the body, like a little jagdpanzer that wants to be a tank when it grows up. Contrast solved this, but the glaring side-skirt might pose another problem. Photoshop should have a "fix everything" function. ;-)

Re: jmacnamara's Units and stuff

I'm looking forward to seeing them in action! :-) A question for all interested: Attached you fill find the E-50. On the left my first attempt, on the right my second one, with the contrast cranked up, except for the wheelbase, which is slightly brighter. I think it looks better, but I would appreci...
