Re: The problem of custom battles

I don't know what percentage of players just play SP in FOG2, but I expect it is very high, probably well over 75%. I never really accepted this argument, and, of course, the main division is already between those who just play SP and those who just play MP. I think thats because vast majority of g...

Re: Realism Mod Wishlist

Yes. In Master of Orion 3 ground units experience gain/decay make the turn processing in the endgame last about 20-30 seconds more than in midgame even on new systems.

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

True. What I meant is if you start in position where such modifier would otherwise apply Enemy Cav will evade your infantry. But if you move in in this position at the same turn as charge they won't, cause they are thinking that they can fallback.

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

1. Can charging cavalry fall back through an enemy unit's ZoC, or does that effectively prevent such a fallback? To prevent fallback you need to be in flanking position even if you arrived at one at the end of your movement action and cast primary or secondary ZoC on enemy cav unit. This is due to ...

Re: The problem of custom battles

So as I wrote in countless other posts classical tactics like oblique order don't exactly work in this game for the reason you described above. Your best bet is to guess right during development phase. Cover 60-70% of frontage and advance with all your forces. This setup and wedge formation punishes...

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

Everything according to the rules here. I created ZoC reference a long time ago, cause sometimes it really hard to figure out what gonna happen if enemy ZoC locking you from multiple directions. Sorry for the low quality screens. Many of the combos or even even simple Secondary ZoC angles are unintu...

Re: Video demonstrating vegetius tactics ?

I also wonder if the "show all undo moves" is a good features. It is indeed a bit annoying but I guess it is meant to make it more "table top" like when you see your opponent doing everything. At least it doesn't show "all the thinking time" ;-) You would be really pis...

Re: I have played this game for over one thousand hours

I have read your tips and the use of Insult emissary is brilliant, in the early game. However, in the mid to late game, the big empires that have survived are less likely to be fighting a lot of wars, and many of the smaller nations are gone. so I have found the tactic less effective at these stage...

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

Pretty much. I guess its assumed they move in a straight line, but game can't display that graphically. Most of the time path can follow squares that, if you moved through them normally one by one, will require much more AP to reach the final square. Its a good work around that incorporates advantag...

Re: Video demonstrating vegetius tactics ?

Its the most common MP players mistake. It's the most boring type of gameplay you can get in this game. All control will be taken out from your hands and you left at RNG Gods mercy. Here's couple of self-quotes form YT video that might help you: About oblique order vs wide line. It isn't about deplo...

[/quote] Oh my god, I didn't realise you had to be Pythagoras to play this game!!! I probably am not the very model of an ancient major general, so I guess I'm just not acquainted enough with matters mathematical, though there seem to be many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse on this...

Re: Population Boom Discussion

So, for instance, I agree with you that there is an optimal population. The systems drive both the players and AI to pretty rapidly grow low pop regions to the 20s and then drastically slow growth (though making a few very high pop regions to get special building combos is usually worth potential l...

Video itself supposed to show a lot of traps setups from your typical game. And the reasons why they can fail. What you need to look for is message full of screenshots in the same thread. Re: I have played this game for over one thousand hours

That proves that you didn't read my topics. Gift option are obsolete and Insult Emissary is way better. You can develop 100 Relationships with the whole world without spending a single coin and do it in the first 50-55 turns.

If you know how Diplomacy works you will never have any throubles with any nations right from the get go. If you know how Economy works you won't need to use Diplomacy for money fix starting from midgame. If you need any tips look up Burgundi AAR and Questions on Game Mechanics threads.

Re: Quick Questions Thread on Rules

I'm not sure I understand any of it. Could you clarify those three points please ? 1) You can block squares on your unit path to alter it facing at final square: Lets say yo do <45 degree move takes 10 AP and consist of one square forward and one square diagonally after that. Or for cavalry we can ...

As an addition to that conversation manual has outdated info on Light Troops. They still get free general turn. If free general turn performed before any degree turn you still preserve any degree turn. All subsequrent any degree turns even after using free 45 degree and free any degree turn will cos...

Ok, so the thing is what additional pop gives you except for causing troubles? +5 PP (or less dependent on terrain) or +5 Culture? Do you read guides on steam on how to keep your slaves and general pop under certain limit? Do you know how long it takes to convert pop ethnicity? I mean if we cut down...
