Re: Is the 4x genre stagnating? Join the discussion.
Played the New MOO extensively. Lack of a forum or multiplayer will sink the ship there. It has qualities of MOO2 and MOO3 as far as I can remember. It's quite beautiful and reminiscent but I am displeased. I wonder if they will remedy things. Perhaps if an independent few step up. Real Time Combat ...

Re: Morris (Axis) vs davidjwest (Allies) - 3.1GS
Wow, on a brief view things are looking rather grim for the Russians! If the Western Allies cannot draw about 50% of the German Forces West things will be really hard for the Allies to recover for a '43 or '44 campaign.

Think the game is pretty set in stone at this point as far as these points are concerned.

Hotseat, that question It's always better to be absolutely sure the new versions haven't changed an item or two. I do believe the capture of N.Africa Key Cities does the job... I think

Re: Axis France-Vichy strategy
I have seen a couple strategies with this. I am not sure how the scripts or situations have changed since the latest patches although it seemed it depended on the situation what the Axis should do with Vichy and what you're willing to risk :!: (P.S. and overextended Allied Player may give you strate...

Re: BattlevonWar (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
Vokt, impressed me here. The early game was all his in my opinion. The Axis blundered their resources on being overly cautious and this lead to a very weak Kriegsmarine that could not snipe off more Convoys and divert more Allied resources to a Navy. Vokt built a Navy, but it was never a Super Navy ...

I challenge the best player out there? I think I have played two of them to beat me as The Entente. As predicted my last two games went as such... CP at best pushed back the Russians, Serbians and French and enjoys early success. If she cannot win in 1914, game is over. I come back after Paris was b...

Re: Can troops fire back against naval bombards?
They did have impressive weapons that could hit ships.. Heavy Artillery, Mines, Demolition Experts, etc... Plus most Ground Command would have air attached to it as well as..i.e. The US Army Air Corp and they could attach 500 lbs bombs and pop them on a ship or two. Now these would likely be establi...

Re: BattlevonWar (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
This player has really utilized his resources well. The Strategic Bombing has depleted me, I would say about 20% of PPs after a certain point.(if that is almost an Army Corp per turn by beginning '44 on, that is an entire Army for defense, which I planned on buying) Also the Spanish Feint, really ca...

Re: BattlevonWar (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
I would first of all, like to thank my opponent for the lovely and detailed AAR. The game is far from over but pretty much the Strategic Implications are fully revealed. 4 Fronts pulling the core of the Axis Powers apart. I have done my best after a rather poor 1939-1941 to build a strong tech base ...

Re: My Experience: Was the Game Designer Serbian?
I thought that Guns of August was fairly accurate for a tiny lower tech game. This game is very glittery and you could modify it if you spent a lot of time for historical accuracy but as for game play, it's got a feel of real War. It has the grit and determination... Very beautiful graphics and soun...

Re: Can a Russia-first strategy work?
I am playing a game with a pal, we have played over a year together. He is one of the best I've ever seen and I have noticed and heard him mention Russia First does not seem optimal. Not that it cannot be done but I noticed when I lost Warsaw to him, unlike in the old patches the penalty to NM% was ...

Re: Analysis
Interesting little break down. Good conclusion and this is really not a historical game outside of making a decent game with a feel of a challenge and balance. Austria was a country broken into many ethnic groups and even with good equipment or more numbers would have had issues 1vs1 against Serbia(...

Re: Some quick questions?
This is where I am a bit lost as well and looking at the scripts and having edited one and failed and then having to edit it twice to get it to work just right for Russian Surrender, you can get lost trying to break down the game in the scripts. But I do notice that when I attack Entente ships that ...

Re: BattlevonWar (Axis) vs Vokt (Allies)
Ahh, Wonderful and detailed AAR, I am very pleased to see the time and effort put forward here and I have read every line with interest. I will say that my opponent turned out to be a much tougher player at defense than I would have first thought. Up with the best at defending France, when I got int...

Re: Some quick questions?
Really the manual covers these questions properly. To the letter and you can search via PDF. Regardless, I sort of just pull one off the hip and go for it game terms as far The Great War and the current rules are concerned and scripts. As far as I know: Subs have to be adjacent or right next to the ...

Re: The true costs of ammunition
Wow, that's all great and dandy until you find out what bombers and airships do to Artillery and at a fraction of the price to launch an attack. All these wonderful calculations go out the window if you just saved up your salvos for an aerial bombardment and reduce Artillery to nothing in a few turn...

Re: Less Tech for some factions?
Saying that the Russians, Austrian-Hungarians should be limited type level 1 or 2 INF is likely right. Also did they or could they make Grenades, barbed wire, and or Artillery, Machine Guns. Look at Gallipoli ... it did seem as though the Turks had mines, barbed wire, machine guns, etc... SO perhaps...

Re: Morris vs BattleVonWar
I gave Morris a chance to take London at his urging and my own desire to see how he might perform it. It was pretty massive in '44 terms for the Axis, I think nearly 20 air units involved and most my Navy and Land Forces were displaced or destroyed in a last strong effort
