Re: Apollo and Briefings
I watched most of Apollo's video as well. He is an awful player. I could understand that perhaps you might not want a "professional PC player" doing the intro, because you don't want to give away all of the subtleties and nuances of the game. Said professional would be sure to avoid some ...

Thanks for posting that, looking good!
I do hope devs will have a professional writer go over all the in-game text. That scenario briefing is a train wreck, in terms of style and grammar ...

Re: Fantasy General II - A look at the Campaign Map
This game is looking great. The art direction is superb!! And from what I can tell of gameplay, it's an auto-buy. One suggestion: have another look at place names and the overall theme, with a few to making things a bit more evocative. Place names like "trollwoods", "farreach" an...

Re: Impossible Siege Video
Regarding comments about fighters and flak being triggered against air recon... remember, this is notionally an operational-level game. Recon plane units would represent squadrons of planes, dispersed across the front. We're talking either light artillery-spotter kinds of planes, or high-speed photo...

Re: How to deal with exponential player growth? (soft cap, etc)
This is a really common problem in many video games, especially RPGs - PC2 should really look around and soak in how many different kinds of games deal with the power curve. I can see a couple of options. 1) Just hard wire it all, and rely on finely graded difficulty levels to allow players to find ...

Re: How has the A.I been improved ?
AlphaZero really is a game-changer, pardon the pun. It's a shame this approach won't be widely available in time for PC2. But I do think PC2 will be among the last strategy games where AI programming is something humans have to grapple with. I'm guessing from about 2022, you'll be able to just buy a...

Re: How has the A.I been improved ?
Best AI I have seen in a strategic/operational wargame is probably DC3 - it is one of the few that gives a plausible impression of having a "strategic sense", or an awareness of the overall shape of a frontline, for instance, which informs decisions that give the appearance of being at a h...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #5
I suppose without the distinction between major/minor victories, the campaign tree will have to be re-tooled in some way. I think that should be viewed as a major opportunity. There is the possibility, for instance, of having customisable conditions for taking different branches. For example, maybe ...

Re: Future dev diaries
Lol .. you mean someone read them! I did copy them to my site when Shenandoah shut, but later, when changing ISP, my previous ISP wiped the files before I'd copied over all the images. Its a huge job to find and relink them. http://www.colourandnoise.com/projects/shenandoah-blog-posts/ Damn. Shenan...

Re: Future dev diaries
Call me old-fashioned, but I think the best dev diaries are those that are actual diaries - eg, that show us what the dev is currently working on, and give us a little insight into dilemmas, thought processes, problems and solutions that go into the making of a game. I want to know what you're agon...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #4
The fact that art can't provide support fire against tanks is an interesting design choice - somewhat ahistorical, as in the real war artillery was often very effective against armor - not necessarily direct kills, but lots of damage and disruption. (treads, forcing tanks to button up, superficial d...

Re: PANZER CORPS II UNITS WISHLIST
Well, the super heavy tanks and other speculative stuff are fun, but I'd prefer if there was a historical PCII with more-or-less historical equipment as the base. Perhaps the speculative stuff should be in a separate, more free-wheeling "alt" campaign? The end-war scenarios in PC with Maus...

Re: AI improvement
Yes to this. Two other AI flaws that it should be possible to fix... First, it would be good to see AI be a bit more cautious about making attacks where there is a possibility of an unseen enemy artillery or AA piece. Currently it's too easy to sucker the AI into making an ill-advised attack on a fr...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #1
I think the artillery guns should have crews. They look so lonely, and inoperative, without some guys to fire them! It's like representing infantry by a pile of rifles and grenades... Ditto for open-topped vehicles, you should see some crew inside. In fact, even the tanks should be unbuttoned, in my...

Re: Panzer Corps 2 - Dev Diary #1
Well, good to see something at long last! The graphics do nothing at all for me, they're bland exhibit "early 21st century 3D render style", which is to say no style at all. I can't see that these graphics justify the shift to 3D. Unity of Command 2 team is doing a far better job producing...

Re: Developers should show something new
I think it was this line: "Doing historical battles is also a potential issue due to the dynamic maps - unless they created them by hand, the battlespace wouldn't resemble the historical geography of an area." You have to admit, it gives the strong impression that DLCs wouldn't be covering...

Re: Developers should show something new
To get coverage we have to give exclusives to magazines. Once they've posted we can share the info. That's the strange world we live in... OK, now that they've posted... can you provide any more detail about the dynamic maps? In particular, is it true that there won't be historical maps and scenari...
