Re: PAW 2013

I'd enter a 15mm FoG Napoleonic competition at Plymouth.

Re: CMT when halted

If you are not advancing then you don't need to pass the initial CMT, had exactly that ruling at Britcon over the weekend.

Re: BRITCON - Runners and Riders

I'm also happy with the proposed addition of Terry into the competition as it'll give me a chance to watch a game!

Re: Britcon

Nigel,

10mm figs look great. So we're scheduled for a game on the Friday afternoon of Britcon, I may look to bring some Brits if I've got the space? (In Dons car!)

Do you want to PM your mobile number to me so that we can keep in touch on the day?

Re: Open terrain POAs

Sound right to me as well.

The square is not in the rough therefore the modifier doesn't apply.

Re: Britcon

Nigel, if you haven't arranged another game I'd be happy to play you as I'll be in Manchester at the same time as Donm.

I'm using French and would be happy to play you or anybody else that fancies a game, just let me know.

Re: 800 or 1000

As an old fat guy here is my opinion on army size: 1. I agree with CutEmUp that 800 points gives you some difficult decisions to make about your army structure which I quite like. 2. I agree with others that 650 points wouldn't be my preferred format as all armies from a list would be very similar. ...

Re: 800 or 1000

My personal opinion, having played in competitions for 25 years is that 3-3.5 hours is the right amount of time to get a result in a competition game, and I'm a reasonably quick and agressive player. I don't want lots of draws when people play slowly, as they sometimes do, I want to get results whic...

Re: Buildings!!!!

Okay, knowing that Terry is busy with the number of posts on the forum I sent him a PM related to my questions on this post and I've received the following answers: Q1. When "Defending" a building and getting hit from firing, if you get an outcome of retire do you retire? (Or do you only retire when...

Re: Buildings!!!!

MikeK you're absolutely right it's all about the headings, I don't disagree with your sentiment in terms of historical and common sense grounds as it's exactly what we thought, but when competing one has to do what's ruled by the umpire, so as far as I'm concerned it's still unclear.

Re: Buildings!!!!

Many thanks for everyones answers to my questions, I think we're almost there but I still have issues with question 3. I agree with donm in that the rules appear to distinguish between combat and firing in relationship to buildings under the headings "General Rules for Combat Against Defended Buildi...

Re: Buildings!!!!

Okay, so looking at the responses received so far, it looks as though the answers are as follows: 1. If you have a unit that is already "Occupying" a building* do you need to pass a CMT to change to "Defending" the building*? No you don't need to pass a CMT in this situation. 2. If you are "Occupyin...

Buildings!!!!

Okay, I had a game at club on Friday night with 3 others and we had a whole host of problems with the rules regarding buildings so I have a few questions to ask which are: 1. If you have a unit that is already "Occupying" a building* do you need to pass a CMT to change to "Defending" the building*? ...

Re: Intercept

Sorry Terry but you state in your post above that "A unit being intercepted may not be fired upon by the original target of the assault."

Is this still the case even if the unit being intercepted gets with 2" of the original target?

Re: Supporting Fire help me understand

I'd like to slightly extend this question about supporting fire if I may, so here goes..... If a unit charges an enemy unit (A) frontally but goes through the short range shooting box of another enemy unit (B) can it be shot at fully by both enemy units during the charge? I assume it can but it woul...

Alasdair would start complaining if you told him that 50% of his army had to be foot troops.

I have to agree with Don, that's a great write up Simon I look forward to the rest of them.

And for all of you that said Alasdair wouldn't let me use any troops the pictures prove you wrong.....okay I didn't get 50% of the army but I had enough!
