Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

I'm concerned that the Red Air Force might be..one point too-competitive. They're incredibly powerful on the offense and my 4 star - 4 1/2 star Bf109 F and G veteran fighters don't seem to be anything but equal. That's fine but they're getting gang raped out there. Unless I have a fighter (Bf 109 F+...

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

While we're on the subject of replaying scenarios for prestige, I'm replaying Kremenchug because I decided to wait until '44 to do Panther upgrades. I discovered something vey cool: strongpoints can be transported by rail. This is highly useful for this scenario.

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

Prochorowka: Hellish. I got smashed up pretty good. Half of the time I wondered, “what the hell am I even doing here?” I was satisfied with the historical outcome. D-Petrovsk: I tried playing a defensive battle, which turned out to be worthless, unnecessary, bit me in the ass at the end of the last ...

Re: Panzer Corps East - The struggle for Russia "Grand Strat

"This will be a real boardgame were our opponent will take its time..on real boardgames a turn could take hours and hours..." Sound like we really need a pause feature during AI turns now more than ever. Playing in windowed mode one can do other stuff but that would take away further proc...

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

I thought of something. Under my reasoning strongpoints wouldn't be able to attack offensively either. I think it best I leave the issue alone. Achtung Panzer is one of a few websites I found which state the Germans never used the name "Brummbar", but that it was an Allied 'nickname'. Beca...

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

I have not yet bought Wespe or Hummel. The trouble with ‘44 is that there is so many units and so little of the core can be deployed. Since I carry tons of AA guns, I often find myself fielding too few units on the ground. I use Fw 190G much more and probably I should have upgraded Stukas to it, in...

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

Olkhovatka, meat grinder, DV on last turn. These Kursk battles are far more difficult than Stalingrad. I like the latest update, in so far as it effects the units I've used. The StuG IIIG now seems like more than a book-end. Mk. IIIN CD has helped him survive quite well. Hornisse seems like a great ...

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

How about renaming the Brummbar to Sturmpanzer 43, or Stupa? I guess Brummbar was an Allied name, like calling the Soviet LL M4 a Sherman.

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

'43 East has been awesome. MV at Orel. This time I had to retreat from an retake the southern railstations. DV at Ponyri on final turn. That one really felt like Kursk. I'm playing on Rommel, started with around 43,000 prestige. Now I have about 26,000. I think I'm developing a fear response to armo...

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

Escape from Stalingrad: All these little Soviet tanks, now recon units with excellent spotting, seem to make the Red Air Force that much more effective. DV Turn 16. I had originally intended to go straight for the impassable section of the Donets in the southwest area of the map, but I got sidetrack...

Re: AI cheating more?

I've NEVER seen the AI use a unit the same turn it brings it out. Ever.

I've also never played GC West, which is what that thread is about. It doesn't seem like the AI should be able to do it in one campaign and not the other.

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

Novoanninsky: Required 9 to 10 turns to seize half the map and the main objective. I noted there were only 14 turns at the beginning, but then lost track of time. I had to make one of those mad dash gambles and it paid off, seizing the second half of the map on turn 13 except for one minor flag in t...

Re: AI cheating more?

Are you sure it didn't use switch mode on you, CrimsonStorm?

I'm pretty sure the player, AI or human, cannot use a unit the same turn it's bought and/or deployed.

The Russians have an 85mm AA/AT that it likes to switch back and forth now. What scenario were you playing?

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

The Panzer IIIN may receive additional CD in 1943 to make it a more durable close terrain vehicle, and/or its cost may go down. In any case this unit needs a boost to encourage its use for the late war, especially considering the Panzer IV series has much better AT capabilities. I like this idea. T...

Here you are, Guille. Product of Chris10.

Use the 15cm sFH18 efx offset properties.

The 15cm sFH18_AT looks most-excellent. Thank you.

Re: Grand Campaign Unit Revisions - Update for GC42-43West

I remember I also found it hard to train AT StuGs at the beginning (especially since they are not so price competitive at their introduction, as they are later on). Since their Initiative is so low, I find them much better to use as defenders, rather than attackers. On bigger tanks, they work best ...
