Re: Winners Atrittion

I think the figures confirm what I have seen at local tournaments. In hindsight I think the flaw has been sticking to 800 on a 6x4 table. In gw in NZ, the local comp scene has been more than happy to place limits on the list and the scenarios played. Similarly the DBR scene has revalued the points t...

Re: Early Or Maurikian Byzantine?

I have just played this army in an open tournament in NZ. It was an open theme 900 point competition. I finished 3rd out of 6. I had two big losses and two big wins. first game was against an italio norman - he had a mix of armoured knights 6 and protected bow. I got caned I didn't get any lancers i...

When to interpenetrate or shift across.

In a tournament today, I had to rule on the following situation. 1. a flank march arrives 2. there is a light foot unit within six inches of the table edge at an angle. 3. We interpreted that the evade had to be perpendicular to the edge even though the troops coming on were not directly perpendicul...

Elephant Generals

A question was raised this evening.

If elephants can only be controlled by generals on elephants can other troops be controlled or influenced by generals on elephants?

Can a general on an elephant be used to add a 1 to the morale to a medium foot unit?

Thanks

Movement of commanders in the JAP Phase

Tonight had the issue. the unit breaks off from combat with steady foot. the unit knights has a general attached. So the general moves back with the unit. The next sequence of the JAP phase is move commanders. My opponent then moves the commander involved in the break off. We looked at the rules and...

Re: Sequence of Charges and Responses V1 & V2

Hi I am pretty sure that we have played this correctly as per the rules written - ie the active player chooses the order and then moves them in order - it just seems a bit odd to be able to move the slowest first but elsewhere the rules require the fastest to move first. particularly when both are c...

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

Serbians won - I made a mess of the skirmishers combined with cav and the armoured knights were able to charge and catch evading troops and then pursue into the next round of troops. It got very messy with evading and interpenetration. he charged one unit of disrupted light foot and caught them - an...

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

Just had a game ottoman turks against Serbs with armoured knights last night. The armoured knights have improved greatly with their increased movement. They really give the bow shooty cav armies a problem. Protect the armoured knights with light foot and then straight in. if the targets evade their ...

Sequence of Charges and Responses V1 & V2

Had a game last night with multiple charges and evades. Now we have consistently played that the charge declarations are all made and then we make all responses ( evades etc) to the charges and then we move all the chargers. However, on reading the rulebook ( doh!) it appears we have been doing this...

Re: Armies: Better and worse under V2

I think you will find the knights are at 3,4,5,6 to hit - they will also be superior - so will reroll 1's add a general as is the customary practice - reroll 1s,and 2s.

Sure LB have improved but the edge is still with the knights. 8 to 7. plus better rerolls.

V2 Interpenetrations - LF evading

Hi had a couple of games of v2 and the same scenario has cropped up a couple of times now. I have LF skirmishing in front of Cav - the LF are charged and roll down they commence interpentrating but cannot complete it. In both circumstances the understanding has been that they do not complete the int...

Re: v2 Restricted Area

Sorry - I have not seen any definition of "Rear" in the rules.

Also despite best intentions, there will still be many that challenge an interpretation that is based solely on comments on the forum. They will insist the rules as written with official FAQs and ignore any discussions in forums.

Re: v2 Restricted Area

The group consisting of a number of very experienced players who travel on a regular basis to international competitions. We agreed the correct interpr...

Its A Record - A tournament with no timed out games!!!!

Hi We have just finished a tournament in wellington NZ. There were 8 participants and we played 5 rounds. Out of the 20 games there was a decisive result in each game with one army breaking within the 2 and half hours allocated. We played 600 point armies on a 5 by 3 table. On two occasions haevy fo...

Call to Arms - Wellington 2011

Hi

We have just completed a tournament in Wellington NZ.

We played 600 points on 5 by 3 tables. There were 20 games in the tournament of 2 and half hours.

All games resulted in an army broken - and the feedback was that people enjoyed the games a great deal.

How many dice ?

My Question for this scenario is how many dice do the infantry get in melee? From the photo it looks as though the infantry contacted is not in full base to base contact. if that is the case My interpretation of the rules is that the infantry will not get an overlap in the first round of melee. In s...
