Both empires were in their dynamic phase and on the offensive. Two large battles were the result of this age of...

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)

ROUND 24: SCOURGES OF THE WEST As the Carolingian era drew to a close, there emerged two great threats to the Christian West: one came from the waves and one from the steppes. The Norse came first to pillage then to conquer and settle down, especially in England, relying on their tough infantry. The...

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)

hmm you’re right, at least for multiplayer games. Turn number can be seen in mp lobby so no need to type it. That’s how Pike & Shot counts turns as I discovered when writing scenarios for that game. Well, that’s a problem. It’s an easy fix; and because the scenarios are under 12 turns, they can be s...

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)

I’ll post the challenges this weekend. I work in education and with the covid thing it’s been wild.
In the meantime, i have uploaded version 2 of Rayy. The first move in that scenario is really crucial, so try out different avenues of attack playing solo.

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)

Talas Londo (ABBA fans) 54/73 - Ian (Orange Cordial enthusiasts) 75/73 I didn't like the idea of attacking the Tang infantry line head-on across the broken ground. (Fogman, does it represent field fortifications?) And particularly I couldn't see a role for the Abbasid cavalry doing so. So Ziyad and...

Re: LORDS OF HISTORY (the ultimate edition)

ROUND 23: BROTHERLY STRIFE At the dawn of the 9th century, the two most powerful empires in the ‘known world’ were that of the Carolingians and that of the Abbasids. But succession struggles were brewing. The Muslim world was torn first, in 811, by the struggle between the brothers Al Amin and Al Ma...

Fogman, I noticed that this scenario is quite different from your earlier Yarmuk. Am I correct in thinking that the recent scenario represents the final, decisive day of the battle, whereas the earlier Yarmuk covers one of the previous days?
Yes. The earlier scenario was a bit convoluted.
