A Late Republican Roman Army vs Turkish Horse Archer Army

You don't say what the first army you faced actually was. Some version of late Roman army. I think it was Dominant Roman. it seems you only fought one opponent with much in the way of shooters and no 'proper' knight army. Therefore you should probably Elephants are most vulnerable to being shot at ...

11. Drop all them crappy barbarian troops, Cav, and Elephants and take more legions!!!!!!!!!   The medium foot did a great job in all of the battles. In the first battle they allowed take the brush in the centre quickly, which allowed me to gain superiority on the left flank. In th...

Here is the link to my battle reports from Natcon 2010, where I used this army. As you will see, I didn't go very well. This, however, had nothing to do with the composition of the army. It was, sadly, all due to how I used it.

Six Battle Reports from Natcon 2010

Here are my battle reports for Natcon 2010. I have posted photos for each battle in separate messages below. I used a Late Republican Roman Army. My army list is at http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15915. The doctrine that I created for the army is at http://www.slitherine.com/forum/v...

With a drilled, well behaved army like Romans? Yes of course there will be. And you'll need it. "Line the legions up and walk towards the enemy" will work against some players for a while. But fairly soon opponents will delay in the centre and go for the flanks, or hit it on the nose with lancers, ...

Sadly what happens if i bring up my Lancer Superior Cavalry up to a mm away from your Cavalry in my turn now your pinned. In my next turn i charge being so close I have a good chance of catching you in the rear if you evade. This assumes, among other things, that: 1) I wouldn't make my elephants su...

A LRR army is all about legionaries. It looks to me like to chose a mixed-arms tournament army and added in some legionaries because you had to. Caesar would be so ashamed. I think you are being a bit melodramatic  Historically Roman’s armies made extensive use of allies. Scipio had cavalry o...

Elephants - I am taking the elephants because they help legionaries by disrupting knights, after several nasty experiences with knights, and I also use them to bolster a flank in conjunction with ...
