Re: FALLSCHIRJAGER PROBLEM..
I rarely use Retrograde trait, but did in AO39. Now, it seemed to have grandfathered over when I imported my core because I can't get FSJ either!! And no, I did not choose Retrograde for AO40. (I double-checked.) But that must be what's going on because they don't appear in the purchase screen eith...

Re: T34/41 and T34/42
I propose that we ask St. Cyril and his team why they replaced the perfectly serviceable sigma with C. KB-1∑ would eliminate all of our confusion

Re: T34/41 and T34/42
Thanks for the additional context, McGuba. I assumed the C (or S) variant was repurposed for infantry support because I misread Vorskl's note as saying that the C variants were flamethrower tanks, but upon re-reading I see that the note says the KV-8 family is flamethrower tanks. My mistake. It's wh...

Re: T34/41 and T34/42
It's fascinating that the KV-1 line was switched to KV-1C in the middle of 1942. I assume the KV's weaknesses as a main line tank were evident by then and so they converted the design entirely to infantry support. Or maybe it's just that Chelyabinsk was designated as the source of KV-1Cs and standar...

Re: Axis Operations 1941 Development Diary
I learned how to destroy DeGaulle in nearly every scenario that he appears. The problem is his Prudent hero. Stukas will NOT finish him off. What does work though for that "finishing touch" is often a shot from your big 203 mm gun, or German equivalent if you have it (21cm gun). Also, though tricki...

Re: T34/41 and T34/42
This is my favorite thread now and I regret the lack of bbcode emoji that shows hearts. I love the detailed illustrations, the production figures, the small variations. I never knew that T-34s varied so much by factory, but of course it makes perfect sense. I even like trying to puzzle out the names...

Re: New general traits
Point is, nothing too bad can happen with the arrogant trait if you're playing decently. It's a bargain. Well... in the DLC, the enemy general is Kerensky, who is good at making assumptions like this expensive. Not only are the objectives often inconsistent with cautious, "correct" play (always sup...

Re: Grand Encirclement
Those enormous encirclements are particularly nasty for units that require fuel to move. If you look at SineMora's second screenshot, a tank unit sitting between Kursk and Olkhovatka could not even try to fight its way out of this encirclement, because it could not drive all the way to SineMora's fo...

Re: Proposal: New Supply system
If I could make any change I would just remove the border supply. Campaign maps that are impacted by this change can have supply hexed added to some areas. Border supply probably is something that could be set with a toggle in the settings. That wouldn't be in my top five of feature requests, but i...

Re: Proposal: New Supply system
with the current system you never run out of supplies unless you get encircled or loss all your supply hexes. This is not true. Armor with Steamroller can often run out of ammunition on their own turn, which leaves them open to consequence-free attacks on the subsequent enemy turn. Furthermore, it'...

Re: Proposal - Rebalance Prestige
I agree with all of dalfrede's points. I'd like to add two of my own. First, your argument assumes that what is delivered is the same thing as what the design intended. This is not always the case. It is often impossible to design software with a clear idea of how all the parts will interact. So the...

Re: AT support bug?
Ok, I did a little testing, myself. I think George Parr's theory is correct. It's not that "ATSupport doesn't support ATSupport," as dalfrede wrote; it's "ATSupport doesn't suport AT-class units." Here's how I tested: two AT guns and a 15cm artillery, sitting in a triangle formation. Tank attacks on...

Re: AT support bug?
But according to Edmon, 15cm artillery, which have both Artillery Support and AT Support, will support one another against hard targets. So that breaks the rule of "AT Support does not work for another unit with AT Support."
I'm having a hard time seeing a consistent rule here.

Bersaglieri - a weird unit
So my understanding of the Bersaglieri was that they were/are an elite light infantry force specializing in maneuver infantry warfare - endurance running, foldable bikes, and other non-standard but effective innovations that you probably couldn't rely on for regular infantry. But in this game they'r...

Re: 1940 GM UB HS
As far as I know, he has always had move 2. At least he did since I first got him; the first thing I did after getting Dir was to take the organic transport off my Azul Infanterie so they could be a five move unit. Looking at the script it seems he's supposed to provide 2 extra move points, but my ...

Was Dir changed, because I don't recall his having a movement bonus (he did in PzC, though, and was hilariously OP)? As far as I know, he has always had move 2. Naval combat / predictions broken?
I am playing through the Brighton scenario from AO'40, and noticing something weird. My KMS Bismarck is attacking the HMS Hood. The Bismark has attack 16, defense 15. The Hood has attack 15, defense 15. And yet the Hood is going to get much better results than the Bismarck (prediction below). What a...
