So, anyone hear of any good alternatives for FOG? I prefer Impetus, and the Basic Impetus is free, so you can tell people to check it out and then sell them the proper version (with supps) when they like what they see. I heard the comments from a fairly well respected veteran of the wargaming scene...
Just on a another note about 6mm, has anyone tried Rapier miniatures from Newline Designs?, just wondering what they were like height wise in comparison to Baccus
I have to say I always find OG 10mm a bit of a pain, because for some reason they have made there strips some weird sizes so they dont fit in with any popular basing schemes, and some of the ranges you just cant snip the bases as half the figure comes away to
There is also AIM which are sold through minifigs US, Warrior miniatures in Scotland which are at the VERY cheap end of the market, and Scruby does some as well, Irregular also do some of the more unusual ranges some are good though
FRom what I can tell most of the horses in the HYW period seems to have been a Shire type horse rather than the riding horses we see today, so te would have been a lot stronger, but probably not as fast Interestingly, in the Braveheart all the English Cav were actually the Irish Womens Cav unit, they...
As your probably aware theres two fields at Battle, the official one and the one where the reenactments take place, when we were there they were saying that the one where the reenactment takes place is actually the battle site and not the one where thay have believed it was
They look good just a pity they want to bring out yet another set of Romans, I understand why they are doing it, but it would be nice if they had started with something else, not sure what mind you though I'm sure everyone would have their favourites
By the way I'm not sure if you made it down as I had to leave early, but you missed some interesting games of FOG at Ceasers Challange yeasterday, it realy inspired me to get things going for it
I was wondering what the rules are going to be if there are any special ones regarding shieldwalls , and if Norse troops and their opponents ( Alfred etc) would be classed as Drilled for the training they did in forming these walls under battle conditions?, and of course during the battles themsleves?
Its the same when you walk up Messines Ridge the others round Ypres, you think at the time is that it?, but when looking back you can see how far you are actually up above Sea Level

With the baccus stuff you'll only get enough for 4 strips per base for the African Infantry, I always like to use 6 to make it look like a unit of CO troops, just an observation so you may need to order more command strips etc to make up the units
