Re: Erik's campaigns & mods

Lots of fixes, but I haven't noticed much new stuff coming out (except for a few from Bru) Is anyone working on a new campaign? King Erik? Has your passion for OoB shifted to somewhere else? Sorry for asking. I'm just making plans for how to spend my retirement. There is a fairly new France 1...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Hi all, Just went through the Red series of OoB campaigns again. They were fun and sometimes challenging, but I could not help feel that the best game scenario designers are right here. I understand that some of the campaigns here were adopted from PanzerCorps, but even if so, I can still see the ge...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Addendum to Forgotten Army Bugs above. I wrote above that the last scenario is super easy. Some ways you could make it challenging are: 1) Remove all land unit points! I reduced mine to just 9 Indian land unit points and still won in 36 turns (3 units and 2 airborne that come in, plus 2 colonial uni...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Forgotten Army bugs Scenario 5 Muar River 3 Air units points are given to each the Australian and NZ forces, but no aircraft are available to deploy (even tho I had them two scenarios before). Nor does NZ have any resource points to buy an aircraft. It is impossible to buy Aus Infantry units, even ...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Forgotten Army review Overall: I had missed this campaign somehow, thinking I’d played it. I hadn’t (the only campaign I hadn't), and too bad. It is truly awesome. Who’d have guessed that a jungle campaign, usually slow and attrition oriented, since the defender has such an advantage, would turn ou...

Re: Calling Designers and Creators

Don't design, but I'm good at play testing. 11,000 hours on OoB and I know what makes games click (part of it is brain science). I assume you've contacted the superb scenario makers listed in the section.

Re: conboy's campaigns

Avalanche error small.jpg ps - I think you already know this, but disrupted/wiped out units can be redeployed at the redeployment hexes. I don't really like units being wiped out so easily in OoB -- so I made sure that badly mauled units can be redeployed. pps - I made a note to fix that objective....

Re: conboy's campaigns

Avalanche 2.0 When you started working on it, you wrote that there was nothing new in it. I completely disagree. It is brilliant and takes OoB campaigns to a whole new level. There are a number of campaigns out there (Like Bru-Erik's Normandy) where you have to play the first scenarios very conserva...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Additional comments on Erik's Mod v1.2: Midway: All the objectives appear to work correctly, but I was unable to achieve the secondary to sink three carriers so can't be sure about that one. Although it is a fairly big map, the Japanese start very close to Midway. The Air units on Midway were mostl...

Re: Erik's campaigns

I wish when people would make scenarios / campaigns and there is an air exit hex yet the designer allows for 3+ air allocations meaning the player may have two or 3 planes zooming around. Gunny, I get ya, but that just means we have to do better planning, and if you think about it, it's all a part ...

The scenarios will be saved in v9.0, so I'm not sure if this campaign will play on native Macs.
For your and Bru's games, I'll buy a PC if I have to. It's worth it.

Re: Bru's Scenarios

Hi Bru, Belatedly, I want to thank you for this rich assortment of scenarios. Steam shows my OoB time has passed 10,000 hours, which is almost two years (minus sleep time). I am sure about 23 of it is due to you and Erik, and I can't thank you enough fo what is definitely the most enjoyable part of ...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Thanks, Erik. Yes, I am using the mod. I Downloaded your update and nuked up to the Coral Sea campaign. Wake Island to Coral. The branching works if that is what you mean). But the Coral Sea scenario still freezes on Turn 1, after deployment. The "AI turn in progress. Thinking...." goes on forever, ...

Re: Erik's campaigns

I downloaded Dec. 23, 2020 created Erik's Naval Mod Navy mod, posted January 2021. OVERALL: US Navy 1941-1945 is far better than the US Navy campaign, and definitely for grownup players. The lower number of aircraft and shortage of resource points, in my opinion, creates a more true to history feel ...

Re: Edward77's Scenarios

I like this scenario too. Good job, Edward77. Nice fun play and I've been to most of the places on the map, since I like in Japan. Sea invasions are always fun, and the Japanese are not a pushover. It is not as challenging as some of Erik's but that's a nice break once in awhile. The only minor bug ...

Re: Erik's campaigns

Shocking news. Slitherine will no longer support OoB updates for Macs. Seems there are too few Mac customers. But for someone like me who will cross 10,000 hours this year, it will be a very sad Christmas.
I know this is not the right place to post this, but you guys are family.

Re: Erik's campaigns

Having finished Red Storm and every other superb Erik Campaign, I discovered a couple I had missed previously, the ErikBru Winter War campaigns. I just finished WW 1939 and diligently recorded comments. (and sorry to interrupt the Desert Rats thread). Here they are: Order of Battle-Winter War 39 (al...

[Gameplay Bug][Red Storm Finland/Capture Vyborg][new]

Vyborg must be captured but on doing so, Turn 31, the scenario was still marked as defeat. Is it because the Finns renamed it Viipura?
