Re: Tracking metal usage

What is shown is an estimate of what will happen during the turn. So perhaps one region wasn't able to produce as expected for instance. A negative difference of about 8% of your entire military upkeep seems fairly significant though. Have you checked the message log for the turn?

Yeah, there is an ability button for raiding if you click units in settlements.

Re: 2D option ?

I agree with Philoumg, I want to play the game like a 2D boardgame such as Risk, moving units from area to area, and wish there was an option to disable the 3D tactical battles. That would've been a completely different game though. This isn't a grand strategy game. Check out Sovereignty: Crown of ...

Re: 2D option ?

Hi, I'm not very happy with 3d map and unity... 2D option will be good for old school player :-) I had somewhat similar feelings when I first saw screenshot. But Unity seems to have gotten a bit better performance wise. And so far I haven't felt a need to rotate the camera or change the pitch, whic...

Do you use CPU-Z to find out which chipset you have?
The msinfo file you provided has your computer model. You search for that on the manufacturer's website if they don't have an automatic service.

As for the chipset driver windows says I have the latest driver installed, so that should be ok too.
Windows has default drivers that these days are usually OK, but I noticed that your manufacturer provides chipset drivers for download so I would recommend you grab them and don't rely on Windows.

Re: game freezes

Now I'm curious, how do you stress test a computer and what numbers are you looking for? I downloaded and tried Furmark and Superposition Benchmark, and it's fun to look at the great graphics, but what is important to look for? You just run suitable stress test software for a while that gives your ...

Re: Athens Income Bug

Keep in mind that what happens during the turn can change the actual outcome, though seeing the same thing and such a big difference for several turns does seem weird. If you hover the mouse over your gold, does it seem like something might be missing such as the mercenary upkeep for instance?

Re: game freezes

For now I'll just say thanks for the help, and if the game should trouble me again I'll reinstall windows. Right now it seems not to be necessary as after the game was updated it hasn't crashed at all, and that is for over 40 turns with two different nations and 4 hours of play. Let's hope it stays...

Re: game freezes

Too bad it didn't help. I assume you've tried ctrl+alt+del when the game freezes? If that gives you no response it is highly likely to be a hardware/driver issue of some kind. Unfortunately those are hard to troubleshoot. One easy thing you can test is moving the game to your other hard drive. Other...

Re: CDR Question(s)

I believe it's a running average of your culture from the last 25 turns that's tallied against your decadence score. The culture value is the average of: (your current culture + the average from the last 25 turns). So this means that your current culture has a larger impact on CDR than 1/25, but it...

Re: game freezes

Try disabling AVG or adding an exception for the game.

Could be worth installing the latest chipset drivers as well.

Re: Steam code error 83?

My guess is you have some kind of security software running (such as anti-virus or firewall) that is blocking the games. Try disabling it or adding exceptions. If that doesn't help you should try disabling as much stuff as possible that's running in the background, even if that happens to be somethi...

Empires doesn't currently have a 'global' mods and only supports scenario mods, that page contains some details specific to Field of Glory II.
I'm guessing we shouldn't hold our breath for global mod support? Been thinking of tinkering with the UI which would be better suited as a global mod.

So, if we want to modify the said unzipped file and tweak the game, in which folder can we place it? Should it be placed like as below? C:...\My Games\FieldOfGloryEmpires\MODS\(Mod's name)\Data\Database\Empires_DB\AEP_UNITS_v3L.xlsx From the wiki http://archonwiki.slitherine.com/index.php/Modding :...

Re: Can't get FoG2 to start

Does Fog2 need to be installed anywhere specific to give me the option of fighting battles in FoG2? I have both games installed on my D drive (not the default install location), Empires is in the root D directory, FoG2 is in a Slitherine directory on D, but when it comes to a battle the button offe...

That text is for the grand campaign. I don't think the faction presentation on the pick your faction screen changes for the scenario.

Re: Can you choose battle size in Empires?

I've been greatly enjoying FOG II. But I tried the Julius Caesar campaign and gave up immediately. The first battle is too big. I don't enjoy battles that large and IMO battles that large don't play to the strengths of the FOG rule set and UI. So my question is: in Empires, can you choose the size ...

Re: Using parallel armies

I just watched the tutorials and it is mentioned (if I understood correctly) that there's a benefit to having two armies move in parallel with a general each. They will fight as one (if both are able to reach the destination at the same time obviously) and if the general dies and there's a follow u...
