Re: "Typical Army" Restrictions

"Allowing" people to take their armies only in certain comps would be disasterous. Who decides what is a typical army for this era? Also a cavalry force fighting a proper mixed arms army, wouldn't happen true, but then again neither would Jacobite Scots fight Samurai or Swiss kiels take on Thirty Ye...

Re: Mid_Republican Roman Triarii

So, in terms of total bases in whatever you call a 'legion' (sorry there's a minimum in the list so first might be a non starter) options are: 4 T, 16 H+P, 8V 6T, 24 H+P, 12V 8T, 32 H+P, 16V 10T, 40H+P, 20V Cheers this is a great example of how to build the list legally, I'll pass this on. I might ...

Re: Mid_Republican Roman Triarii

Thanks for the clarifications. I did read the link and thought I was understanding it but then in the last section he started talking about having a 6:6:6:6/2:2:2 legion being ok. If I'm reading it right a lot seems to broadly hinge on what the player chooses to group together as a "Legion"? So a pl...

Mid_Republican Roman Triarii

Hey Fellas, a mate of mine recently picked up a Mid-Republican Roman army and when we finally got a chance to have a game a few questions came up regarding the army lists and Triarii. He built his list around 6 battlegroups of 6stand Hastati and Principes. According to the rules this meant he had to...

Re: Pre-set terrain

Everyone at the club I play at likes V2 a lot but the general feeling of terrain set up being a bit laborious is still there, especially given that it requires both players so one player can't get there early and set up a table. Has anyone had any problems with pre-set terrain? Is there anything we ...

Re: Mixed Battle Group Question

Thanks for the clarification, just wasn't sure if the "skirmish" light foot bases counted or not. I think this was another case of the more we discussed it the more we convinced ourselves there must be something there that wasn't, the rules have always been pretty clear for us.

Mixed Battle Group Question

Hey all hoping someone here could help with another query. A situation arose in a game the other week which has never come up before and I haven't been able to find an answer in the rules forum. A mixed 6 stand battle group of 4 heavy foot stands and 2 light foot stands was supporting 2 battle group...

Scythed Chariot Support

My friends and I have been playing FoG for a fair few years now but it waned over the last 12 months however we have recently come back to FoG with version 2 and are thoroughly loving it. I have morphed my Later Carthaginians to be general successor type army now as well and in my first game I was r...
