Re: Chaos Tourney

Draw of the century

General Shapur Avar drew GreyMouser Welsh 59-59

A long no quarters battle of cav archers vs scores of infantry - in the end we were fiching with just a few units as the field was strewn with the dead

Good game indeed!

Re: The Rally Point (discussion and questions)

The main issue which continues to make this a circular argument is that you link a lowering of RNG to increasing the quality of the game as objective truth when it is not. No, it is a subjective truth. In my opinion the game would be improved by a tweaking of some of the rules (double-drops and ral...

Re: Chaos Tourney

General Shapur (Ach Persian 553-546BC) defeates Karvon (Thracian 329-281): 40-30 Two weak CC armies and and 2 large forests on opposite sides of an open field was always going to lead to a hesitant battle. As usual, Karvon probed with his skirmishers and light cav getting some early hits. But Persia...

Re: Arrows vs Armour: Agincourt Myth Busting

Not everyone had good quality plate some had none in some locations. Wounds and arrows lodged in your armour would hamper your ability to fight. Period descriptions describe bodies covered in arrows - penetrating a little and lodged there. Just being hit by an arrow would rattle you I think.

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

I'm interested to know if there is actually any chance of major changes to rallied units ever happening. Is it simply too hard for the developers to approach this from a coding sense or is it a mandatory bit of the game play that is not really up for discussion. What happens in the design process to...

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

Essentially rallied units on the map periphery, out of realistic range, are protected points cashes randomly awarded. In 2 recent games I had text book flanking maneuvers that should have won me the games - but periphery rallies took those points away leaving fragmented units out of range and my wor...

Re: suggestion : more RALLIED UNITS with events on the battlefield ?

I'm having a bad run with opponents getting multiple rallies at the moment. It seems to me a well thought out plan thats going well can be ruined by distant rallies that cant be reached. These things are out of player control. Id like to see units only rally if in range of an un-engaged general. Id ...

Re: Chaos Tourney

General Shapur (Greek 227-146BC) defeats Schweetness (Thracian 350-281BC):- 60:58 A very tight game. The thracians dominated in the early stages seeing off the greek cavalry and light infantry with few losses. However, the skirmishing allowed the Greek phalanx to find good defensive terrain to sprin...

Challange1 (Bulgur 675-1237) Defeated General Shapur (Byzantine 740-903) 60-47. As the score shows, this was a bloody encounter with both (all cavalry) armies charging and counter charging while the horse archers harassed whenever possible. An almost featureless plain was the perfect terrain for th...

result (should we post them like the other Tourney?)

General Shapur (Jewish revolt 66-135AD) defeats Challenge1 (sas-Persian 629-651AD). 41-8

This was Challenge1's challange, and quite unlucky to to go up against one of the stronger armies. Thanks for the game.

2nd challenges up for: SnuggleBunnies TheGrayMouser Karvon Challenge1 General Shapur pw 1010 One thing I just noticed in setting up the game is that you could potentially just go back and forth rerolling the matchups until you got one that was heavily biased in your favor (I didn't do that, promise...
