Re: nvidia

No, I've never had any issues with getting updates, but I do get them through Steam. Still, I don't believe that a proper Nvidia software installation should interfere with them.

Silk Road v1.6 is now out. This is a patch for compatibility with v1.5.3 of the main game.
Good to know, thanks for the quick update.

Re: Any chance of a DLC covering the period before 680 BC?

It also dismisses a huge segment of the Ancient period (basically the Bronze Age) from Sumeria, through the Egyptian Old Middle and New kingdoms, the Mycenaean Greeks, the Babylonians and Assyrians, Hittites, Hyksos, Sea Peoples; the rise of the chariot arm from the lumbering war wagons at the outs...

Any chance of a DLC covering the period before 680 BC?

I like the DLC that have been released, but I've always had some interest in the warfare of the period before that covered in the game. Is there a chance that we might see a DLC for pre-680 BC armies? I realize that there would be a lot more conjecture for warfare of, say, the Hittites and the Akkad...

Re: My list of all currently available armies, as shown in g

Thanks! It's nice to have all these in one easily accessible place. If you are really into list making maybe you could add what module (Rise of Rome, Legions Triumphant etc) each lists is a part of. ... That's more work than I wanted to put into this, as I just wanted an integrated list so I could ...

My list of all currently available armies, as shown in game

I'm the kind of person who likes to create and maintain lists. One of these is all the current armies available in FoG2 and the two released DLC. I'm pasting it here in case someone wants it for some reason. I count 135 entries, but I may have an error or two (or more) in it. Please post if you see ...

Re: Field of Glory 2 Version 1.1.7 now available

I just installed the update and checked out the game. I'm very disappointed that the camera angle has not been changed so that a view of the battlefield lower than 45 degrees is available. I am not proposing being able to zoom closer just being able to move the camera lower. You can see more of the...

Is it weird that I only play custom battles?

I have 75 hours on FoGII right now, which is a lot for me. While I have dabbled in a couple of campaigns, and did peek a look at a couple of the Epic Battles, my preferred mode is custom battles. I guess it comes from a lifetime of playing wargames, both computer and before that, paper and cardboard...

Re: Field of Glory II new mod! Are you ready for the Silk Ro

I poked around in the mod files and, as I like to do, assembled a list of armies included in the mod, taken from the file TEXT20.TXT: Beidi 1046-701 BC Beidi 700-220 BC Chinese 1046-701 BC Chinese 700-351 BC Chinese 350-210 BC Chinese 209-100 BC Chinese 99 BC - 23 AD Di 1046-701 BC Di 700-201 BC Di ...

Re: Confused about the idea of a Quality: Raw unit

I also had a battle end with both sides breaking off combat as both went over 60% rout value in the same turn. hmm, haven't seen that yet. In this event, does it matter if one side gets 61 and the other 62, or since both are over 60 they are treated the same? They are treated the same, as it is con...

Re: Tone down Missile Troops?

Mass bowfire is among the most annoying things to deal with but Bowman are exceedingly terrible in hand to hand and are usually not nimble enough to evade combat for long. Try screening your main hoplite line with skirmishing light troops. Even if they rout from missile casualties, they will not st...

Re: Confused about the idea of a Quality: Raw unit

I'm glad to hear that they are not exact values, it makes it more interesting to me that there is some variation. You don't really need to know how it works in detail, you just need to know that lower quality troops are more likely than average to fail cohesion tests, and high quality troops are les...

Thanks for the replies! I have found these raw units are pretty decent on the line, but better if interspersed with higher quality units.

Confused about the idea of a Quality: Raw unit

I was playing a Custom Battle of Etruscan 490-331 BC (me) vs Bruttian or Lucanian 420-203 BC. I had a lot of these "Raw Hoplites" with an attribute of Quality: Raw. In my mind I figured that these units wouldn't be much better than my Poorly Armed Rabble, but in the battle these Raw Hoplites perform...

Re: AAR: Battle of Varigani 495 BC

Ha! Another elephant runs! They are now just great grey cows running away! On my left, on the hill, the enemy continue to attack, but they have lost so many units, far too many. And on the right, my two cavalry units have fought hand to hand for so long they barely can raise their arms to, err, rais...
